If you are doing it to hedge your bet I wouldn't think your creator would like that.

I do think that you and other believe. But just because you believe something doesn't make it true. True for you but doesn't mean it's true for anyone else.

It's like if I tell a 2 year old the sky is green. That 2 year old might think that is true, and **** it is true to him b/c he knows nothing else.

Remove "sky is green" add "God". Rinse and Repeat.

you know that kid may see green the way you see blue. its very possible we all see colors differently but we associate the names as taught. but it becomes truth because you know nothing else nor can see through someone elses eyes.

maybe god is viewed the same way.

Well it's just a totally subjective topic since neither side can prove existence or non-existence.

However I do believe logic and rationality tends me to believe the non-existence side.

I guess for me personally it's a pet peeve that people that believe CLAIM to know the TRUTH, and then start to quote the Bible like that is something I should hold high when I see it as nothing but a good story. And don't even get me started with the FAITH stuff. "Faith means not wanting to know what is true." - Nietzsche

    To each their own.

i agree. often religious nazis are those who cant just be. they hit ground zero and need something to keep them straight. and they feel compelled to
    do the same for you.

ie, there is never middle ground. so its one extreme or the other. crackhouse or save the world from sin.

i have no problem with the quiet religious man who keeps it personal within his family. after all thats how i was raised.

It's not about belief, knowledge, understanding of doctrine, or much else past having a Relationship with a Person. When will you guys understand that?

I can tell my 8 year old about Jesus all day. Until he meets Him, I might as well be telling him all about how good of a guy Nelson Mandela is.

Jesus is the power behind the principles and the dynamic behind his own demands (Malcom Smith).

Let us just see if he can find the CAPS and apostrophe keys first.

Indeed. The bumblebee flies because he flaps his wings really fast. No kidding.

What are you afraid of hearing, amigo? He's one of the few Christians who will stand up and speak in the face of your graceless mockery. You seem adamant on finding an answer to the creator thing, for an atheist. Listening to believers is a part of that. It's a bit puzzling, though. Atheists seeking God is like a thief looking for a police officer.

I wonder when some of these folks' fathers disciplined them for reasons they didn't understand at a younger age, if they put their foot down and demanded an immediate, full rational explanation.

Uhh, actually I did. It worked out pretty well, too. They started treating me like adult that should be reasoned with instead of a puppy that must be scolded. I will admit that I was a fairly precocious and outspoken child. I really only got my ass paddled when I was totally intransigent. I was also a stubborn child.
