The problem with this, of course, is that I believe many conservative politicians feel the same way that you or I do on this issue. However, repealing farm subsidies and getting rid of social security unfortunately alienates farmers and the elderly who have failed to stockpile enough money to retire over their lifetime.

If every politician ran on the platforms that they truly believed in this wouldn't be a problem. Personally, while growing up (rather prosperously, I might add) I felt a lot more strongly about repealing these types of social programs. When in college, my girlfriend (now wife) got pregnant, we had to rely heavily on Medicaid, LaCHIP and WIC. We wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise... so my feelings are a little different on this issue.

    Care to elaborate on this?

I don't pretend to know enough about our tax laws and brackets to be able to say one way or another what would be best for the country as a whole.
I would like to kick all of the illegal immigrants out and privatize Social Security, however. Talk about a burden on the economy!

Do we still have troops in S.K.? I know in the late 80's we had up to 50,000 troops located in S.K. Last question is, who was in charge of S.K. b/4 Kim IL's dad?

I believe we have roughly 37k over in South Korea but that is planned to change with troops being sent elsewhere and lowering that number.

I do know that nearly 14,000 Marines off of Japan are going to also be spread out so they push that number back up.

i would favor killing social security slowly so people who paid into it still get money, but nobody ever pays into it again. farm subsidies are 100% terrible and are an abomination not only because we have to pay, but because they are unfair and prevent better products from competing. it screws foreign relations too, because other countries are justifiably pissed.

sucks that your irresponsibility costs the taxpayers. this is what families and churches are for.

mccain has horribly mangled freedom of speech with one of the worst laws ever passed, with his campaign finance stuff.

Prior to 2004 there were normally about 37,500 military personnel stationed in the US Forces Korea area of responsibility, including about 225 aircraft of all types. With the 2nd Brigade Combat Team going to Iraq in August 2004, the total number of troops declined by 5,000, to a total of 32,500 military personnel.

Army Forces in the region include Patriot missile batteries, Apache helicopter squadrons, a mechanized infantry brigade, an air assault brigade, various support, intelligence and other units. The Air Force has two wings located in the US Forces Korea region with some 8,300 personnel, operating a total of about 100 aircraft of all types including F-117 Stealth bombers. US Naval Forces, Korea is particularly small, numbering around 293 sailors and 52 marines.

U.S. Forces, Japan, with its Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps elements, consists of approximately 47,000 military personnel. There are roughly 350 aircraft from the Air Force, Navy and Marines located in the US Forces Japan region which includes Okinawa.

Kim Jung Il's father Kim Il Sung had no predessessors. He ruled North Korea as a dictator from the time his guerillas defeated the Japanese occupation forces in 1945 until his death in 1994.

Thanks R55, didn't sung il craft his own religion or something. I don't remember the name of it but it's basically communism dressed in religion. I believe it is based on worshiping the leader of your country and look at him as god and no one or anything else. Any time a leader of a country builds a giant statue of him self and hangs paintings of himself all over the place you can grantee that the country is a big poor mess.
