Went gigging the other night over in the rigolets area by boat. Hadn't done it in years and would have been happy with a couple. Water wasn't super clear, but good enough. Well I finished a limit of 10 around midnight. Not too bad. Plan on going again soon. Nothing like sweet flounder filets!!! Tiger bait!!!!
I'll be in Gulf Shores July 6 - 12th. Any chance there will be a jubilee at that time? Any details on where and how how to capitalize would be appreciated. Beach is going to be crap, would be nice to boil some fresh seafood to make up for that.
They only occur in a a stretch of mobile bay (not around gulf Shores) But i will shoot you a PM of places to go and fish if you like. Jimmy Buffett is having a huge free concert July first on the beach with other to attract tourist to beaches.
Thanks, with the beach in GS in the condition its in, I suspect we will have plenty of down time when we aren't playing baseball. We've stayed in GS before and enjoyed traveling along the eastern shore of Mobile Bay and visiting Farihope. I'm trying to line up things for the 14 and 15 year olds who are on the team to do other than trashing the condo we're all staying in, Island Winds West. I heard that there are some freshwater lakes near GS that we may explore as well.
Eat at LULUS...Jimmy Buffetts sisters place is fun for that age...also water parks and yes the fresh water lakes are ok but if you want to fish i can tell you some place's in the bay that are still ok.
I swear, every time I see the title of this thread, I think it say's giggling flounder. I then remember what it really says. I know not on topic, I just thought it was funny.
Flounder gigging on Dauphin island I happened to be searching for some information on where to gig in Mobile bay. did a search and found this thread. Old information, but I hope your still around. I'm going to be in Alabama port west side of the bay just north of Dauphin Island April 15-19 2011 if any one knows the area and wants to go just send a message to [email protected] . Have the light have the gig just need the place. Thanks.
You'll slaughter them on Dauphin Island in April. As long as there was no rain that day you should be fine. You know what they say...April showers. Good luck, bro!
