yep. Most of John Curtis' seniors are extremely well coached middle tier athletes. St. Aug, on the other hand has better athletes that didn't get any real coaching until high school. St Aug athletes populate BCS school rosters. John Curtis...not as much.
The jury is still out on J. Rasco at present, but he showed a lot of promise as a true freshman last season and definitely has potential. This season may be his time to shine since he may be one of the first options behind Montgomery, Mingo & Edwards. He could definitely be a good one before he leaves LSU.
This is true of some of their athletes, but for decades, John Curtis has also recruits heavily, as does Evangel and many other private schools in Louisiana. In Texas, there is actually a lot less recruiting because the private and public schools don't compete in the same league. But in Louisiana, all of the schools are thrown in together, and the private schools seek to pillage the public school athletes.
I'd love to see this in Louisiana. They could do a Public School State Champion and a Private School State Champion then have a plus one for Grand Supreme.
John Curtis has been recruiting since the "old man" was at the helm in the 1970's. I played against Curtis in the 2A state playoffs in 1976. Back then they put quite a few players on D-1 rosters. From that team came Greg Dubroc (LSU), Reggie Duppard (Texas A&M), and the Joseph kid who played QB and went on to Nebraska. Nebraska was a powerhouse back then and took option QB's with talent.
evangels problem is many of their so-called top athletes are spoiled, rich white kids who are overhyped by these recruiting services and everyone else who are wrongly influenced. money has a way of getting more attention than it deserves. then they get exposed when competing against higher level players. josh booty was fn terrible. hester had heart. he at least gives them some reprieve.
Plus my niece dated a jock from Curtis when Saban was at LSU. He was obviously going to Curtis for one reason because he was dumb as a brick. My niece dropped him pretty quick.
