If 12 or 13 plays a game is so incredibly easy then why is he the only kicker counted on for any and all kicking duties? You missed my point completely. Obviously all the LSU place-kickers SUCK, BUT CJ is at least stepping up to the plate and doing his part in several aspects of the game. Have not seen anyone else do this yet.
Jackson has done a good job on punting, kickoffs, and long FGs. His punting has gotten better each week. He is lost when it comes to extra points. I have no idea how to explain it, but of all the kickers we have on the roster, for one reason or another the entire list of kicking duties is falling on Jackson to handle. Jackson is not a Jr or Sr, so I feel he is swamped with all these duties. I do agree with you though, I'd like to go back to plain old boring extra points . . . compared to the exciting ones we have had this year.
Gaudet kicking XPs last year as well as short FGs worked out great last year. No idea why we did not stick to that plan. I know he missed the XP in the Auburn game, but I think things would have turned out differently if Gaudet wasn't stripped of all of his duties from the outset.
Walking out on the field is not doing your part. Shanked punts, short kick offs and missed extra points has been his contribution so far. Yes he is the best we have at this point but that doesn't mean he is carrying his weight. There are several players that play on multiple special teams that are getting the job done and he is not one of them.
Well no shiyatt Sherlock, but performing well in several aspects of the game is indeed doing your part. He HAS been consistent on kickoffs. He HAS improved and IS consistent in punting (he was thrown in to do it at a moment's notice and has improved ever since), he HAS been consistent with field goals. But yes, we ALL know about the extra points. Name me a player on LSU's team that has been more consistent in several aspects of the game than Chris Jackson has been for LSU.
In my opinion Jackson has done one hell of a job this year. Taking on other players' responsibilities while performing his own is not only a huge task but one I think he has met well! KUDOS to Jackson for his play and mental toughness for handling all the adversity that has been thrust upon him!!
