no, their fight song is battle hymn of the republic, but they do play Glory, Glory as well, much like tigerband has more than one school song. it's like hey fightin tigers, and tiger rag. And Texas' song was originally a folk song, then converted into workin on the railroad, and they adopted it last, must like hey fightin tigers and tiger rag are copies, hey is from a musical, and tiger rag was a jazz tune in the 20's.
Huh? Aren't those two songs one in the same (the song actually being titled "Battle Hymn of the Republic)?
yes you are right, I apologize. I was at the game, and their band plays well, but they looked a little, "shaky" on the field, more like lost. Oh, and members of their band tolf tigerband members while on the field that they were going to "kick our ass" along with a few other explitives at halftime. Well they lost battle of the bands and of the teams, so I guess they meant something else haha.
Its actually Battle Hymn of the Republic, But we use "Glory, Glory to 'Ol Georgia" just to clear up. By the way, Go Tigers - Bring the Championship home to the SEC!!!
Fight songs You want boring, listen to USC. (I swear I'm not making this up, and it has nothing to do with the currnet contorversy.) My brother was in Auburn's band when they played USC in the Citrus Bowl in the mid 80's. USC's band played the same song after every play. Offense, defense, good play, bad play, it didn't matter. In fact, on one play Auburn picked off a pass and ran it back for a TD. Sure enough, the USC chant started off again. Auburn's band folks made up a song to it that went: "This, is a very boring song, But it's the only one we know, so we play it all the time......" In fact, by the end of the game the Auburn tubas, baritones and trombones had heard enough of it to play aong with USC's band during one rendition in the 4th quarter. Listen during the Rose Bowl and you'll see what I mean. Of course, in the 86 GTHOM game, we had to hear Dixie 52 times. Our trombones were counting. GEAUX TIGERS
I didn't know that. I always thought Georgia's fight song was "How Much is That Doggy in the Window?" You know, the one with the waggedy tail.
