GOOD Offensive Balance-276 rushing (5.1 avg), 265 passing (15.6 avg); rushing game finally, it makes everything run more smoothly Trey Palmer 93-yard kickoff return for TD drove a dagger in SC’s heart TJ Finley-17/21, 2TD, 1INT, 24-yards rushing on 8 attempts, connected with 6 receivers TDP-139-yards,6.1 avg, long 35, 1TD; Emery-90-yards,4.9 avg, long 14, 1TD Marshall-6 receptions, 88-yards, long 51, 2TD (27/512, 9TDs, 19.0 avg on the year); Jenkins-3/76 TOP-37:34/22:26, run game killed SC 8/10 3rd down, 1/1 4th down, 5/5 red zone (4TDs) 5 sacks, pretty good sustained pressure all game, some due to coverage LSU allowed zero sacks, OL looked good against SC SC-3/10 3rd down, 1/2 4th down, 2/4 red zone (2TDs) ZVR? No punts, good for the old man; no STs complaints Freshmen: Boutte, Ricks, Gilbert, Koy Moore, Ojulari, Finley, Max Johnson Sophomores: TDP, Emery, Jaray Jenkins, Stingley, Trey Palmer, Cade York BAD SC-403 yards offense, 169 rushing (5.8 avg, 2TDs), 234 passing (19.5 avg) Penalties-LSU (10-79), SC (7-55) Max Johnson-We couldn’t get this guy more live action? I think he should have went in at least one series earlier Chris Curry-I love his heart, but he had 11-yards on 3 carries; he needs to play clean-up thumper at the end, let the other two shine when the game is in question UGLY SC-1/4 FGs; that was brutal, you could tell they were in for a long night SC-1 punt... Pelini struggled again QB controversy-Let’s slow our roll, this was a nice outing by Finley, but we were going up against SC/Muschamp, OL had their best game, D looked borderline competent at times, rushing game wasn’t abandoned
All that and without really ever showing the golden girls. I'm impressed. We actually looked like we got ourselves a chance at the barn next week. I never thought I'd say that our defense looks about as scary to watch as our offense used to. There was some signs of life, but this was the cocks.
I know it was just South Carolina. But I think South Carolina is on par with Missouri and I know they’re better than State. On the flip side, SC did plenty to help us last night too. That game could have been much closer.
D shouldn't be this bad. They just dont play their gaps nor assignments. Beaux's time might be short lived.
I counted that 14 of our 22 are underclassmen? Granted, I was never elite like these kids but when you are hesitant for a second at the LOS, you can instantly be out of place. I think they are just taking too long to make the reads and a few steps off the beat. It was hard for me when I played to look at guards and not the ball, but man they really do lead you to it.
