I'm an alum, as a freshman, I was so concetrated on not screwing up, I didn't notice, but as I got older, I kind of laughed about it as I was going. If you ever go to a practice, you will notice to help each other out, the band hssss the last 5 yards before the stop and the drumline counts off. It is so nobody stops early or late. Its not even audible to the crowd on Saturday night. Also, it harder to here the drumline in the beginning measures of Pregame than it is to hear the bassdrum marching out. Kind of get loud when the drumline counts off. You may not see any current band members respond for a few days, they are presently in their preseason camp which began for new members last Sunday and returning members went back today.

It was more of a, "Are they erecting a changing booth right there? What the... Oh my... are they really... wow."

Oh, and I'm not the one that has gorgeous softball players come stay in my guest house as a married man with kids!!

You're not old enough to be her dad either. :hihi: I never got to tell you ET stayed at the same hotel as us in Round Rock for Nationals. We got to visit a lot.......our team and the Carrolton team hung out together, in fact, they came eat with us two nights- we'd cook in the parking lot.

I started to have her log on and post to you but you can't act "Star-struck" around them "Big names".......everyone falls in her feet, I just treat her like any other girl I'd meet and talk to at the ball park. :hihi:

Actually, she's very down to earth and great with the kids. Oh, and my wife likes her too. :thumb:

In the 70's the Swor band marched out to a single drummer playing a modest rimshot instead of a bass drum. The sound never carried off the field and it looked like the band was marching to no cadence at all. Kind of cool, actually. With the bass drum, the crowd has now started clapping along and they rush the beat, of course.

its not actually a rush to begin with, it is what they hear, which obviously doesn't sink with the band because they are farther away, then everyone gets really excited and it begins to rush, but at first they are actually lagging behind.

That's because they start clapping 5 minutes before the beat drops. Damn I can't wait for the opener.
