rephrase the question, dont understand. is the question why kids with one parent of each gender are more likely to be emotionally well adjusted? the answer is the same as why a PB&J is better than a PB&B. opposite gender parents complement each other, and construct a more complete picture of how to relate to other people. and being good at relating to other people is about as useful a skill as anything if the goal is to be happy, which obviously it is. i dont give a fuck about gay rights one way or another, but i damn sure would rather have one of each than two dads or two moms. and that not because i am ass, but because as a little kid i want to understand and relate well to both genders.

I need to buy a six pack of beer to watch the Olympics and since I'll be cheering for the American teams I want to make sure my beer purchase is not inappropriate.

BTW, why can't be be called a marriage? I hear "marriage" and "civil union" currently used interchangeably with heterosexual marriages, so why is it not the same with same-sex marriage? The word "marriage" has no heterosexual-only associations. It's a legal contract between two (or more in some countries) people that creates a family unit. The purpose of said relationship is for legal protection as far as the government is concerned. You say "civil union", I say "marriage". The only difference is the spelling. Regardless of what the government recognizes, religious institutions are still free to not recognize a same-sex marriage.
