Why is reproduction not a benefit to society? Of course it's a benefit.

Are we suddenly hurting for population such that the government needs to encourage people to get pregnant? And are single people unable to get pregnant?

Can't I get myself a girl and be committed to her just fine without being married in the eyes of churches and govt?

Why not? Because it makes you uncomfortable?

That sounds an awful lot like "separate, but equal" to me...

You don't need to be married to reproduce.

For the hundredth time, we need the government managin marriage as much as we need them managing other rituals like communion and baptism.

Generally speaking, children from a two parent home are more productive members of society

correct. what does that have to do with marriage? filling out forms doesnt make a two parent household. yunno the government isnt magic. you could have a kid and raise him with both parents and never fill out any governmnt forms or stand around for any gay ass religious rituals. . your kid would hardly notice.

we need to stop pretending that relationships are defined by something other than the interactions between the participants.

It's true, children fare better with one male and one female role model. Not always of course. And that doesn't justify anything.

also i think what was implied in th eprevious statement was that the two parents in question were of opposite sexes and not adoptive gay parents.
