    His "views" always change depending on what demographic he needs to vote for him. This is a political move, nothing more. Biden's dumbass jumping the gun on the subject made old Barry do the interview ahead of the scripted schedule. Martin is right, if this is debated, Romney will be destroyed.

    that would certainly solve the argument in the mind of every sane person. but gays are flamboyant idiots and christians...well i think we know how they dont give a damn about making sense. the bible is pretty damn clear cut when it comes to the little gay fellas. god is not a fan.

    The government has a huge interest in marriage. It helps the orderly disposition of property when a person dies. The whole idea behind "legitimate" children is that they inherit from a parent who dies without a will, while "illegitimate" children don't. In this age of DNA, proving biological paternity is easy (and fairly cheap) but 50, 100, 200 years ago that wasn't the case.

    Louisiana law still contains the provision that "the husband of the mother is presumed to be the father of all children born or conceived during the marriage." I don't have a derivation table handy but I know that provision is based on ancient Roman law.

    I think he had to do it because he has lost a chunk of his liberal base. Mainly people like me. He was never going to get the social conservative vote anyway, even though Romney is not their ideal candidate either.

    But what exactly does his flip flop do? Why would it change anything for anyone with even a shred of brains?

    1. Public opinion is rapidly shifting on the topic, especially among the young.

    2. People that are bothered by this are the religious and the ultra-conservatives, neither of whom would have voted for Obama anyway.

    3. Gays who were annoyed with Obama for not instantly enacting their entire agenda will now get out and vote for him.

    4. Romney and the Republicans must now go with the older and dying side of this issue and be perceived as anti-woman and anti-gay.

    5. Independent moderates mostly do not care about this issue at all as it relates to presidential choice . . . but they don't like intolerance. Worse, they don't like rigid inflexibility. Obama has shown both flexibility and tolerance here . . . and Romney can't follow.

    It's smart, Bill Clinton-influenced campaigning. They have long had a schedule and a plan to deal with Romney, they've known all along it was going to be Romney. They can't wait for Romney.

    Actually, Biden forced Obama to jump the gun, the announcement had been planned for September, close to the elections to catch Romney unprepared in the debates. Biden is in the doghouse right now because of it and and had to apologize. After 25 years in the Senate, he is used to speaking for himself and forgets that when he now speaks, it will be seen as Obama policy.

    It has energized liberals. Alot of them. The last few days on facebook, all I have seen is Obama memes and pictures, and comments about how awesome Obama is. They are fools.

    dick cheney, who is smarter and more honest than any national politician today, said years ago that gay marriage is fine. but that is because dick cheney is honest. obama is a lying prick.
