I guess I'm one of the few who doesn't like gator meat. I have tried it every conceivable way and it has never been very appealing. Usually it is rubbery.
small fresh nuggets fried to perfection is hard to beat. I've also had the rubbery stuff. I'm not sure why there is a difference. Maybe it's the freshness? Size of the gator? The cut? I have no idea, but I have had the rubbery tasteless stuff and I've had the crispy tasty ones, too.
I'm taking my alligator hunting (it's a requirement with the permit) class in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out if I should use a bangstick or a shotgun (those are the only 2 legal ways of dispatching a gator in MS). If I get a shotgun, what kind should I get? A .410? Should I get a pistol grip?
I find Out tomorrow if i get chosen for tags in Alabama. Have to hunt at night no baiting and a class is required.
