Everybody makes choices based on their situation. I have an 4x4 V-8 SUV gas hawg. I carries my stuff and my passengers and it takes me and my canoe into muddy and sandy river bottoms and over mountain passes on jeep roads on vacation. I commute to work in it, too, but my commute is only 10 minutes, Hell I drive home for lunch most days. So its not kicking my ass at all and never really will. If I commuted from Kentwood, it would be different. martin doesn't understand why I don't take the subway from Hundred Oaks to LSU or why I don't bicycle to Lowes to pick up a sheet of plywood. Somebody explain it to him.
How about the government quit holding up drilling and exploration permits so we can drive what we want to drive.
There was also a time in earth's history where almost every living animal was killed. I don't worry about killing the planet. The planet will be fine. I'm not so arrogant as to think that man can destroy this planet. We're a mild case of eczema. What I worry about is man surviving the next shift in climate change. Mother Nature has shown that she will get rid of the problems when the balance has been tipped to far, regardless of the reason why it was tipped or who/what tipped it. Well, first of all: Link? Secondly, that's just a drop in the bucket compared to the money that Petroleum Companies contribute to the pols in Washington. I bet just the biggest six contribute more than that. ExxonMobil contributed $12 million alone last election cycle (which was about 50% less conpard to the previous two election cycles). Chevron was in for another $11 million. You think they're going to let that chump change from Environmental lobbies sway then when it's raining oil dollars? Of course this still doesn't address how the supply of oil in America could never meet our consumption needs.
Bull. Americans consume 21 million barrels a day. If we got what we have out of the ground we'd be good to go for a couple thousand years.
Frick riding a bike in to and from work in BR 10 out of 12 months of the year...I do it in my neck of the woods, but I also can walk it in about 2 minutes.
