Try to understand . . . They pay based upon what they earn. The only reason that they pay more is that they earn more. But they are still paying less of a percentage of their income than you or I. A child can understand this. Why don't they owe as much as you or I?

You are blind and deaf. Say you make $100 and have to pay $35 in taxes and I make $1000 and have to pay $150 in taxes. Does that sound fair to you?

You know deep down that income is income. Why is it not? What is special about their income that rates them tax breaks?

You are the one that defends them on every point. You advocate against the middle class. Your envy is shocking. The fat cats care nothing about you.

I fully understand. In your mind they are getting away with something. In my mind they pay the bulk of total tax dollars so I don't begrudge them a break on their investment income. I can live with it. I've got other things to occupy my mind.

I don't care what you pay. If you pay $350 on $1000 it doesn't affect me one way or the other. If you pay $150, good for you. My life remains unaffected.

I have no clue. I'm sure there's some reason why it's allowed. Maybe some past President fulfilled a campaign promise or some politician rammed the law through to feather his nest. It is what it is. What good does crying like a little girl about it accomplish?

And I care nothing about the fat cats. I don't even know any. I don't defend them. I'm ambivalent. I am envious only of someone I know with a new boat and time to fish.

I see the problem. I'm discussing federal taxes and the big picture and you are discussing you.

Damn, you are an honest man this week. Give up liquor for Lent?

Go ahead, say his name . . .

The tax breaks are a recent change that was supposed to be temporary to boost the economy. It did not do so and contributed to the deficits instead. It needs to expire as was always promised and planned.

We're talking politics here, Dr. Phil. You bawl about Obama on a hourly basis.

    Now, that's a whopper . . .

    I hate that guy . . . :yelwink2:

Gas would have to cost $7 a gallon for hybrids to break even - SmartPlanet

Seems that some cars its worth a hybrid, though most you'll only break even with current prices.....So at our current state in time with this technology, why bother? Oh that’s right, the trees…..

IMO, if you’re worried enough about gas prices, you’re not in too much of a position to spend the extra 6k(or more) and go buy a new hybrid…..

I wouldn't go out and buy a hybrid just because of gas prices, but if I have to buy a new car soon, it will be a hybrid, or hell maybe even electric. I have to drive a grand total of 3 miles to get to work. It's my wife's explorer that is guzzling the gas, she has to drive about 25 miles to work.
