Not just that, but it's not only about gasoline. Try sneakers, plastic containers, syringes, asphalt, pill bottles, trash bags, shopping bags, TVs, laptops, CDs, milk jugs, bottles, etc. All of that comes to a screeching halt without oil. For me, it's about the kind of country that I want to live in. The top 400 earning people in this country make more money than the rest of the country combined. I'm not concerned with what the Billionaires want because it doesn't impact me. They don't need me to empathize with them. They have Congressmen that do that. I'm concerned with the well-being of my family and friends and how the middle class is impacted. A healthy middle class benefits this country as a whole, the uber-wealthy included. I will never understand middle class and lower class citizens who vote on policies in a manner that not only does not benefit them, but puts them at an economic disadvantage under the guise of a "free market". Stupid is too nice of a word.
the sky is falling those sons of bitches. thats probably not true. americas richest own and produce things you buy regularly. and if for example, you were like a poor african kid, guys like bill gates and warren buffet would be buying you vaccines. thats why i thought we could have a chat about how best to manage our personal oil consumption. but i guess you were not serious and you can afford it easily. thats cool i guess there really isnt a problem. maybe these cats understand economics better than you do.
i dont know. you said "every product on earth...blah blah blah...free trade". and that aint free trade. there are tons of things that business has done and wants to do to impede free trade. although by the context of your and lasalle's posts i really think you mean free market, which is what im referring to.
you make it sound like doing something (especially as effortless as you describe) specifically to benefit the environment is stupid.
cry me a river. they deserve the money because they work that much harder than everyone else and contribute to society more than anyone else.
I don't do anything to specifically benefit the environment. I didn't say doing something something specifically for the environment is stupid. I said saving money and trying to play it off as saving the environment is stupid. You are intelligent enough to discern that, aren't you?
if you dont even know what the problem is, how can we fix it? specifically what is your problem? can you not afford gas?
I'm not crying. I'm perfectly okay with working the rest of my life for the things that I want, never getting that island in the South Pacific to retire to or those seven Maybach's that I could drive one only on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. It would certainly be nice to be that wealthy, but it's not something that I aspire to and realize is an impossibility. My happiness is not dependent upon outward things. You're attempting to misrepresent my intentions and missing the point. 1) No. No they do not work harder than everyone else. They do contribute to society when they pay their taxes. I'm sure there are other ways, but that's not my point. 2) My point is that when I vote, I don't vote for policies that benefit them. I vote for policies that benefit me and the other 300 million Americans. They don't need my help. They can afford to lobby Congressmen directly. These people are going to be fine. Perhaps they might have to sell one of their yachts or perhaps downgrade to a G4 the next time the are in the market for a private jet, but their well-being is not my concern. No one on this forum will ever be as wealthy as these people, thus voting for policies that benefit only them while hurting you and your families future is pretty dumb.
