this is not free trade. complete absence of regulations stifle free trade just as over-regulation does.

Unlikely. The Arabs can't agree on anything. They will always play each other off against one another for profit.

International oil depletion is a problem that we cannot fight our way out of. The "winner" would bankrupt itself for a diminishing product.

Until alternatives become feasible, when the oil is depleted, life on earth will change fundamentally for developed countries. The country that uses technology to get itself beyond fossil fuels will be the winner on the post-oil planet. Best we spend our time and money on stretching our limited resources, depleting the oil of the Arabs first, and sparing our own reserves for harder times. Meanwhile we develop new energy sources based on fusion, harnessing planetary gravity and magnetics, and zero-point energy.

again, explain to me the problem.

what i am hearing is that something is too expensive, is this correct? i would advise you to buy less of this item. if you do not understand how this is possible, i can offer some suggestions on how to reduce consumption.

if you are being forced to buy this product, then you are correct, this is not a free market. please let me know and i will help contact the authorities about the gangsters that have a gun to your head.

i think i can help you with whatever problems you have regarding oil and gas prices.

    Sorry, no sale.

You ignore the national problem that we own 2% of the worlds oil and we use 25%. A trite, simple solution that only works in martinworld doesn't address America's oil problem. The percentage of people in the nation in dense urban neighborhoods who can live like you without gasoline is about 1%.

But don't imagine that you are not a consumer. The oil it takes to heat and cool your city and transport vast amounts of sushi, overpriced sneakers and Gucci manbags almost to your door is mind-boggling.

i dont ignore the problem, i was just asking so we can discuss solutions. like i said, i know of a number of solutions that we could use to decrease consumption. yunno for those who cant afford it. it appears to me that most of us here can afford it just fine, as indicated by how many cars we own and how big they are and how much we drive. but if we really cant afford it, i would love to discuss solutions.

of course it does. do you also have a problem? i thought we agreed that you could easily afford to drive a guzzler to work even though you didnt need to. my trite simple solutions involve miimizing consumtion and allowing price changes to drive innovation in alternatives.

yes, i know, cheap gas has enabled suburban sprawl. we could certainly argue whether that is a good thing or not if you like.

oh, i know, my place is heated with oil. a big truck delivers it, and it costs a fortune. but yunno, living on earth costs money. if i cant afford the oil maybe i will buy more blankets or have the landlord improve the insulation. summer is coming so i will be ok. i am metaphorically stuffing my heating problems in my gucci manbag until november.

I found it. You should be able to. I'm not trying to convince you. That's not possible...on any subject.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It really is that simple. Apply these principles to your life, and your cost of living will go down.

I don't use plastic garbage bags. Why put a bag in a garbage can (I just wash it out)? I don't do it to save the environment (although all of you greenies should). I do it because there is NO reason to pay for garbage bags just to throw them away.

I wonder how much oil could be saved if everyone quit using plastic garbage bags?
