I am within bicycle range of my job at LSU but I have found it impractical for commuting, too. Summer humidity would require me to have a shower and a change of clothes at the office every day. Twice a day if I go home for lunch. Winter in Louisiana is cold rain which is also bad for cycling in office clothes. I end up bicycling about 3 or 4 times a year, usually in December or March.
I didn't say they were. Obviously the Government is not going to give away solar or electric cars, that was a pipe dream, and to be honest, I wouldn't want them to just flat out give them away, just some form of rebate kind of like what they do for putting solar panels on your house and things like that. But then again they may already do that.
there is no reason to ride a bike to work, or even get a smaller car. we are all proving that by not doing those things. i am saying that we shouldnt be asking the government to manage oil prices. they are what they are. we cant act like we are owed good prices. we are owed nothing.
The biggest estimate I have seen of ANWR is 90 Billion, but not all of it is economically feasible. Still, it means very little when it comes to gas prices which was your original complaint... I don't and never denied this. Your point?

Enviros don't want more drilling. They give to democrats and have influence on many congressmen and senators votes. Politicians from both parties have their votes swayed by the need for campaign money. Weather or not drilling American oil is right or wrong , democrats vote more along the lines of what enviros demand for thier money. This is no diffrent for both parties. Money influences votes in spite of what is good for the USA.
