You're learning, big guy. Big Oil is Republican and they have an oil man in the White House and pet Republicans to maintain in the senate and house.
What's really amazing is how american oil execs can drastically influence the worldwide price of oil. I'm impressed.
You got hosed. There were these 2 gas stations selling for 1.59 last Friday. Some kind of super grand opening. The next day those jerks hike the price to 2.09. Still better than you though. Sucker.
Damn, that's cheap. Give me a heads up next time and drive over and fill up! For some reason, Georgia has some of the lowest prices in the nation.
Oh please! Most of the world's crude oil does not even go into making gasoline. It goes into making oil-based products such as plastics. Once we ween our way away from gasoline in favor of hydrogen fuel or whatever, the oil companys will do fine. For all their money, the oil companies do not control Congress. That is a convenient myth because Americans like to blame somebody and BIG OIL has been a favorite scapegoat of ours for decades.
George Bush must be controlling gas prices again. Son of a Gun, the closer to the elections the cheaper gas prices become!
I am sorry, but you are the one who is wrong. Yes, taxes does add to the price of gas, but the tax on gas has not increased as far as I know and does not add to the increase. I forgot to mention speculators can also affect the price of gas. But oil profits do not. The oil companies earn about a 7% margin of profit which is not out of whack with what other industries earn. Banks earn about a 19% margin of profit.
But how do you think that came about? A reputation must be earned. I don't think that 'most politicians' are involved in it. But to think that oil hasn't had some impact on our global politics in the past few decades is a bit naive. And no single industry exerts such control over our economy, so the natural reaction is one of distrust.
