Well if you follow there logic and drive more or run the crap out of an SUV in 60 days you could save more than the life changing $100.

I think they are both stupid.

They mentioned on the radio today that since April of last year:

Crude oil has risen by 22%
    Gasoline has risen by 38%
Oil company profits have risen by 48%.

Cause and effect, eh? Supply and demand, no doubt.

The part I like is that Oil Prices in the futures market has dropped from the hysteria of $75 plus and yet no drop at the stations.

That is absurd... There has got to be some way to keep the oil companies from profitting Billions every quarter!

I spend just as much money on gas every month as I do on beer!

And haven't prices at the pump increased almost exactly 48% from last April... From an average of ~$1.50 to now ~$2.95

Nope. Average gasoline price on April 24 2005 was $2.218 according to the CBS News website and on April 24, 2006 it is $2.908. That would be 31% increase in pump prices against a 48% rise in oil company profits.

There is, let the oil companies invest the money and drill in Alaska and off the coasts of America.
Not only would that cut down on their profits it would also bring down the cost of a barrell of oil.
I'm laughing my butt off when I hear both Republicans and Democrats talking
about cutting back the gas tax.

    Really,
The real problem is that it is Governments fault, environmentalists are some
of the same ones complaining about gas prices.
The Gas tax should be abolished, we shouldn't have 50 different formulas
    for 50 different states.

Its congress's fault, if you want to get serious do the steps above.
Name another industry that is so controlled by politicians and extremists.
Its not like oil companies can invest freely in their own markets.
The screws will get tighter and tighter until something breaks just like
    with medicare and social security.
Our government is broken between the Democrats and Republicans
fighting between each other and the extremists controling the Democratic
    party now days.
    The End....

I would rather pay 10 dollars a gallon than see the Everglades ruined the way the oil compnies ruined Louisiana's marshes. The same goes for Anwar. If the oil companies were responsible corporate citizens and didnt screw up the environments they worked in their wouldnt be the resistance now.

The Oil Companies will not destroy ANWAR. The foot prints they are able to use now is drastically different than it was in the '70. If you were to fly over ANWAR you would even know it was there unless someone pointed it out to you everytime. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE AREA. It's tundra or snow. The enviromental record for the facilities on the slope is excellant. And the clean up if something happens is unbelievable.

Key word is technology. The resistance is people still things the drilling and production process is acting like the 60's and 70's. A lot has changed. Even with ANWAR you might get your $10 dollar a gallon gas because it would be at lesst 10 to 15 years down the road if they opened it tomorrow. Before we saw a drop of oil get to market.
