The value of the dollar is set by comparisons with other currencies, not by the Fed.

again, flooding the market with more printed dollars necessarily lowers their value. and also, again, this is true, but not as severe of a problem as rex and the truthers will have you believe.

The fed may affect that market, but there are so many other factors that affect it more that Rex's statement is untrue.

I got upset and said some things I shouldn't have said. We all have done this from time to time. I am no different but I still stand my statements of how disgusting politics is in this country. The media is crap, no objective reporting. All politicians raise huge sums of money for themselves and their parties while the countries finances go to hell.
Sounds a lot to me like the CEO's who get bonuses for failing companies.
    Good Day

    So what is the answer?

I think we need a moderate third party, the dems and GOP are too polarized and too far to the extremes.

I have thought that for quite some time actually. I do believe I have talked about a third party here before. I do agree it has to be moderate or center of the road to help bridge the gap between the two.

No question, the dems and repubs have become so polarized that it is hard to imagine a day without political grid lock. That being said, they have both done a good job of monopolizing the political oxygen and money. It will be hard to raise a third party without proper funding but I would love to see one emerge that had a centrist message. I think the majority of Americans would like the same thing.

The "winner-takes-all" electoral college has to go. It prevents small parties from getting even a small portion of the representatives. It was designed to prevent gridlock in an era when there were many small political parties and the worry was that no one would be able to win clear majorities. Now that the political landscape has been reduce to two parties the electoral college only tends to prevent any challenge to them from newer, smaller parties by not allowing any footholds. It has become a generator of gridlock between those two polarized parties. It has to be eliminated.

Super-PAC's and other special interests that are allowed special access to politicians through lobbyists and allowed to spend billions to own a candidate must be eliminated. Money is driving the elections instead of political platforms and citizens votes.

Absolutely. I would take it a step further and say that popular vote should be the ultimate decider in any election. By eliminating the electoral college you also skip a whole, rather devious step in the political process by which promises and favors are exchanged for electoral votes. By the time any candidate takes the oath of office, their plight has already been decided; they've alreayd sold their soul to the devil in return for Money or the promise of it.

Well I disagree with getting rid of the electoral college. If we didn't have it there is no need for the president to visit any of the states outside of the east or west coast. People in rural areas, farmers, ranchers would absolutely not have any say in any federal elections. Popular vote would most likely ensure that populated areas, cities, coasts would decide the outcome.

I absolutely think we have to get the money out of the elections, goes for corporations and unions, special interest groups.
I have always believed we need our political system reformed first before healthcare or anything else. I have said this for years. It does no good to reform healthcare of anything else in the current climate. Both parties are held hostage by special interest groups and money.
I have always believed that political reform should include a three party system.
Again, I want to apologize for the other day, I snapped, I guess I needed to get that out of my system. I am sick about the current direction this country is headed.
