Ahh, my instincts told me that there was at least something similar in the LSU paper. Granted, it wasnt the same caliber of smack talk, but none-the-less, its still taking digs at the other team. This kind of stuff goes on with every heated rivalry, although the only one I remember reading were articles from UGA writers. Im really surprised that Bama/AU doesnt do it too. WAR DAMN EAGLE!! BEAT BAMA!!
The article in the LSU makes no reference to the people in general of Mississippi. It is just poking fun at gameday in Oxford.
You have to be kidding if you think that article compares to the Ole Miss article. No where does he take personal shots at the people of Mississippi. You are really reaching, and it's pathetic. (BTW, at least I can spell pathetic)
Taking shots at the LSU team would be one thing, what's getting everyone here so pissed off is he's trying to take shots at the people of Louisiana as a whole. That kind of thing has no place in any respectable journalism. Then again who said the Ole Miss newspaper was respectable journalism.
I am not saying he couldn't have refrained from the attack about the whole state but it is a 2 way street.I have heard similar stuff coming out of BR all week and have definately heard stuff about toothless rednecks and trailor parks on here all week.I am not saying I agree with it but again it is a 2 way street.
Yes, and I'm sure you throw it right back. But there is a HUGE difference with it going on between fans on a message board and it being printed in a "news" publication.
who cares what this clown thinks. If everyone emails him, then he'll know he got to us. I say ignore it (as hard as that may be) and let the Tigers quiet him on saturday. None of that crap that he said was true. LSU isn't in Central La. anyway, the city he's talking about is Alexandria.
What I find the funniest in the OM article is his point #8. You definitely are an Ole Miss fan if this is the biggest game you will ever see. See, even this homer dork is not counting on going to the SECC game. No vision...
Rebelnut, I have not engaged in any comments about toothless rednecks and trailer parks as I am from Mississippi and happen to be a fan of LSU. I realize both states have their fair share of both. I did take exception to one of your fan's ridiculous comments and I did lose my temper and let things go a little far. Unfortunately, he is one of many rebel fans who are disrespectful and choose to look down on others because they are not from the University of Mississippi (as evidenced by this article and the fact it was allowed to be printed in the school newspaper). As I have stated before, not all rebel fans are like that, many happen to be my friends and family, but I don't take crap from people like that, regardless of school affiliation or anything else. If you wish to talk smack about football, I can receive as well as I can give. Leave the other garbage at home, and there will not be a problem.
Totally agree! I have family from LA also.I know there are some fans that let things get out of hand. There are LSU fans that come to the Ole Miss board and post the same ridiculous post( I never said that it was you) and it pisses people off.Which in turn they make personal attacks and it escalates out of control.I don't however see anything wrong with a little friendly ribbing, but to a certain extent.I have found myself guilty of getting a little upset when I read someones post. But again,As much as we all care about our football programs it is only a game.
