TT, I have always gone to Woodrows as well. I probably will be there for the Auburn game. We usually get there 2 hours early to get a good seat. I enjoy the crowd there. Were you there a few years back when we played Notre Dame? At one point in the game everyone was jumping up and down so much all of upstairs was shaking. You are correct, the beer is exspensive and the food is so-so. If you hear anything about the other places, post it on here. I would be willing to give another place a shot.
Woodrows is the best for atmosphere. You definitely have to get there way early to get a decent seat, particularly if you bring the whole family. Not a bad place to bring the kids, though it is an establishment at which alco beverages are sold and some people will let some colorful language fly. Sometimes, they have about as many LSU fans there as are in the stadium! In recent years, I have gone to SRO on 1960 if I go out to see the game. But if there's any way to get the game on my tv, then I watch in the comfort of my home. We put on all four of the TVs on the first level of our house and turn up the volume.
To me it's all about the atmosphere....I could care less if the food is good or if the decor looks nice..... I want rabid LSU fans all around me.....that's what it is all about baby!
I've gone a few times for games in the last 3 years and they definitely have great LSU crowds. I was upstairs for the Bluegrass Miracle and thought the floor might come crashing down. Sometimes for really big games (like this one) I would rather just sit at home by myself and get 100% into the game. I typically go to Woodrow's for the JP games that I can't catch at home.
Yo ISLSTL - A ton of the Austin LSU crowd will be at the ACL FEST but I sent a note out Monday and got about 20 confirmations. I'm sure others will be there as well though I will be watching it from a secret location with in the park. Hook this!
Yeah, I'm also considering just watching at home, too. Not to move this thread in yet another direction, but I just got my HD box last night, and I assume that CBS is showing the game in High Def. Anyone know if this is true? If so, I'm more likely to just watch it on the big screen and just crank up the surround sound. Besides, I could check out TigerForums during the game...LOL (*if it seems like I'm trying really hard to convince myself that staying home and watching the game is a good option...you're right.*)
FYI - The Championship game last year was at Shoal Creek but this year the official viewings are at pluckers up north. Let me know if you want your email added to the unofficial distribution for where the "real" viewing is... http://www.lsuaustin.com/events.htm
