Yes, I say the short range passes to the flat were very effective, but AU's team speed is much better than SC's and that is not going to win the game for us. We absolutely need to use Michael Clayton more, why the hell aren't we throwing him the ball more!! Every other team can get the ball to their respective star receiver. The use of the TE is nice to see, Edwards should be looked for in those short yardage end zone situations every time.
I think the key for both Auburn and LSU is to shut down the others running game and make them beat you passing as both teams have pretty average passing QBs.
Saban said that some of the sweeps were designed specifically for Alley Broussard to run. And then since they were so successful, the sweeps were called again and again. I would bet that he doesn't have a total grasp of the playbook quite yet so the coaches are resorting to designing a few plays just for him that he knows exactly what he should be doing. Kind of like Skyler Green last year, he is just too talented to keep off the field.
Nick also said last week that when we find something that's working we are going to keep running it until they stop it. That's a direct quote from Charlie Mac whether Nick knows it or not. I once saw Mac run Charles Alexander off right tackle 7 straight times . . . until they stopped it.
Great explanation, I hadn't thought of that. I know he was there when the ball arrived, but I like to know how FAST he got down there. Wish I'd have noticed him in at safe.
You know, he is actually pretty quick. Hes not quite as quick as the Freak, but I have seen him drop into coverage once or twice.
