Yes but isn't half of the sequester not going to discretionary spending?

Obama signed the cuts. The buck stops there. If he wants changes on what he signed he needs to lead the way.

LOL. The Republicans lost on Obamacare, lost on a major Supreme Court ruling to void Obamacare, lost 2 presidential elections, lost seats in the House, compromised on tax increases. They are really in no position to demand anything. I think the White House knows this and watches while they try to squirm out of this situation with a little face.

I think they should try a different tactic. Go back to the table with Obama and agree on temporary tax increases (like the Dems did with Bush). With that they could compromise on freezing spending in some areas and cuts in others (that could be temporary also). This would serve to get past this sequester bs and put the onus on the democrats to show that this would work. If Reps are right and tax increases only hurt growth and prosperity then the proof would be apparent.

I think their only way out of this bad streak they are in is not to derail everything but let it fail (if it indeed really does). Put their ideology to the test by letting the opposite occur.

So good leadershio is signing off on something you know to be terrible, because it will make the terrible assholes who came up with it come up with something less terrible down the line? It wasn't a miscalculation. It was a disastrous fuck up, and its one he needs to take accountability for.
