Yea...Howard was pretty funny, surprised they only made one. Didn't that used to be a regular strip in National Lampoon?
Yes. The original was with Humphrey Bogart, William Holden, and Audrey Hepburn and it's pretty terrific too. The remake was with GK, Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond and the wonderful but deceased Nancy Marchand. The wife should like either or both if she hasn't seen them. Great movie around the holidays.
Blazing Saddles. End of discussion. At the time, the humor was more biting edge, racism was in the process of being killed, and it was NOT politically correct to talk about it. When you watch it today, you don't actually realize how much funnier it was AT THE TIME. Young Frankenstien. A ton of great lines in there. - Walk this way... - What knockers! - What brain did you get? It was from a young woman, Abby, Abby Normal !!! - loved the monster in the woods with the blind hermit, pouring coffee!!! Just so you know I'm not a Mel Brooks homer, The History of the World series SUCKED! Just stale old stuff, except "Have you seen a pack of Trojans?". And one most of you probably don't remember, Little Big Man with Dustin Hoffman. Funny political satire. In the context of the Vietnam War era, and the debates going on then, it was outstanding, both as a comedy and a political statement against war. Again, if you watch it today and you don't have the context of the Vietnam War to place it in, it loses much of its impact.
A Shot in the Dark, the Inspector Clouseau classic with Peter Sellers. I still watch it 3 or 4 times a year and still laugh my ass off.
