Sorry I didn't get too read it before it was deleted,(I just love anything raunchy about rex) it seems entire threads are now being deleted, because of rexypoo. He started his own thread crying too Brett and threatening to leave because "This Sort of Thing Has Happened to Him before" IMAGINE that. :hihi:
It's a good thing this is primarily an LSU Sports message board, because it is absolutely impossible to have a rational discussion about the merits and demerits of the President and the War in Iraq. It's just as well, since everyone here is a complete expert on both topics, and apparently needs no further input.
It's quite simple really: Us: Bush won Them: Bush cheated Us: Bush attacked the attackers and those who harbor them. Them: Bush lied Pick one side and repeat ad nauseum.
Well, if it's that easy... First question I'll go w/ "us" on the answer. Second question I'll go w/ "us" and "them." They're not exactly mutually exclusive. And "lied" is such an inflammatory word. I prefer "was potentially mislead, though with a possible understanding of having questionable information."
On the "why we went to war with Iraq" issue, there will never be agreement as to whether it was "right" or "wrong". I have always maintained that one has to consider when the decision was made. Bush was in a protective mode. We had been attacked and Saddam was showing no indication that he was going to cooperate by complying with UN sanctions. That made him dangerous at a time when Bush was not in a mood to "wait and see". Shoot first, ask questions later. If your child gets bit by a snake and you then find a snake in yard, do you kill it or 1st determine whether it's poisonous?
That's probably about the best summary I've seen of the war. I don't suspect hidden financial motives or really much of anything deceitful. That's a matter of opinion, obviously, but I don't really question his motives. I'm far from a fan of Bush (though IMO Kerry was a worse option.) But, don't have much of a problem philosophically w/ going to Iraq. Some of the planning appears to have been lacking, but what do I know. And I kill all snakes on sight, if I have the means. Then again, I'm not President. :hihi:
Well, if you're on the left side of the aisle, you form a Joint Congressional Committee to study the underlying social causes of why that poor snake bit your child. Then Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson go on TV and proclaim that this poor snake is a victim of the system. The snake appears on "Oprah". Protesters march in the streets in favor of fang control, because, after all, it wasn't that poor snake that bit your child...it was his fangs. You get the general idea.
