it's not a QB. HERE are all the quarterbacks for LSU since 1992 (straight copy/paste off the rosters at lsusports.net. there is no #9 QB in any season all the way back to 1992.

WR Early Doucet is #9 from 2004-2007
WR Devery Henderson is #9 from 2002-2003
WR Reginal Davis is #9 in 2001
CB Robert Davis is #9 1998-2000
SS Clifton White is #9 1996-1997
SS Talvi Crawford is #9 1993-1995

no way in hell that picture is older than the history of the rosters on the link above. so no QB sack for cadillac in that pic!

The photo was taken in Jordan-Hare Stadium as is evidenced by the visible Auburn logo on the field, it is clear that the Auburn player is indeed Travis Williams who played from 2002-2005, with games in Auburn in 2002 and 2004. In the 2004 game, Williams had 8 takles, 1 for a loss and 0 sacks but in the 2002 game he had 0 tackles. Thus using the #9 history provided by tigerdro, we must conclude that it is a picture of Early Doucet, because there is no way that it could have been taken in 2002. But I'm guessing he is referring to the game in 2004 when we were #5 in the country and they beat us 10-9 late in the fourth quarter, when we started the more talented Russell over senior Randall. But JR had won the job in camp if I remember right and Randall played a couple series a game when JR was playing bad. But I guess the situations are kind of similar. But next time make sure you have your facts straight before accusing one of our fans of not knowing our history when you provide a terrible picture of some random catch and claim it as a sack of JR when any college football fan could clearly tell you that is not JR because he is a very distinctive looking player.

my apologies, I stand corrected on the photo. (and all this time I've thought it was Randall :yelwink2: )

in any event, the point I was attempting to make was regarding the similar QB discussion that occurred frequently on this board during the Randall/Russell period. There's little doubt that RP is a talented QB, but do you really want to start him against the best D you'll face this season?

i have a similar discussion with AU fans that feel AU should start Kodi Burns over Cox. While Burns is much more athetically gifted, Cox gives AU the best chance to compete against our toughest opponent. Likewise for Flynn.

mf appears to read defenses well because he doesnt throw into double coverage or get picked by not seeing a defender in a zone. he also knows when to throw it away and when to take a sack. but there aint much more frustrating than a qb getting time and missing open receivers. especially if those receivers are 3 steps past the safety on a fly pattern. it remains to be seen if rp cant read defenses in a game. id imagine he isnt as good at it or the coaches would start him (although with clm's loyalty and doghouse im not 100% sure). but is reading the d the best always the most important aspect of playing qb?

Cox has proven himself and has way more experience eventhough Flynn has been here for 5 years. Also Burns is a 4 star TRUE FRESHMAN compared to Ryan Perrilloux being a redshirt sophmore. But IMO we will probably see some of Kodi B this weekend.

a quarterbacks ability to read a defense is about 30% of it because if you cant execute it your dead in the water....I dont know if any of you guys are golfer's but ill use this edxample how many times have you driven the ball into the trees and when u get there u can see every possible means olf escape, yet u know that u cant get it over the tree cuz u just dont have that shot in then bag.......i.e. every quarterback that is in division 1 football that steps up to center can see that the defense is showing cover 2, but that may change as soon as the ball is snapped bye rolling a linebacker into the middle of the field or dropping a tackle heck the d-backs may pinch down these things you cant read at the line....now in my opinion flynn is making his initial read on time he goes to his 2nd option just fine what he is not doing is checking down to his running backs in time when there is nothing there also he is not doing the smart thing bye just throwing the ball away when he cant make something happen if u watch the florida and kentyucky game u will see y i am saying these things .....i.e. in the kentucky game he was getting alot of time but he was either holding it to long or simply not making the throws, yes he had alot of drops but hey dont throw it to lafell anymore cuz he is the only one dropping balls routinely everywhere i have ever played if u dropped to many balls my qb wasnt going to u anymore plain an simple............and in the end it doesnt matter if you can see whats going on if u cant make the throw or move in the pocket to buy a littloe more time it just doesnt matter what u see............the guys coaching were usually the guys who couldnt make the plays but they could see an understand the game better than every1 else.....

Gely, your stuff is hard to read

Plus, you can summarize the Flynn situation with far fewer words.

Try these on for size: Since the Virginia Tech game, Flynn cannot consistently make the throws he needs to make.

    Period.
