you don't even have to believe in God to be able to recognize that someone who does believe in God and tries to forego having sex so that they can become a priest is doing something noble. It's simple....they are sacrificing the pleasure of this world and as far as I know most people would say that is a noble thing.... the globalists would prefer that you sacrifice pleasures of driving a car to save the planet.....also a noble goal but one that I think is completely unnecessary.

Gotta agree with Red on this one. If a priest abuses a kid sexually, he's a pedophile. There's no gray area on this one just because it's a priest.
Well, I think people should try to stick with the real meaning of words....otherwise it confuses things. If they are post-pubescent he is not a pedophile. It has nothing to do with whether a priest or not. It the definition of the word that I was disputing.
Nobody said sex was evil. I'm sure God is quite ok with sex, he invented it. But, you are only supposed to have sex within marriage....otherwise everyone is supposed to be chaste. Modern society is so messed up that people everywhere have sex and have babies out of wedlock, abortions, diseases, etc. Anyway, that's one reason the priestly celibacy looks so out of place in society today but it wouldn't be that big of a deal if all the men who weren't married were in the same spot as the priest.
Well, if there is a gray area in the meaning of the word, so be it. I still maintain the problem will not be solved by letting priests marry. Schoolteachers, coaches (or whatever profession you want to pick that has a high rate of abuse) can get married and it doesn't stop them from abusive behavior. All I can say is that sex is a big problem for the human race and I'm not so sure the secular powers-that-be have any reason to think they can help fix the problem.
but you said even an athiest should be able to see why it is noble to give it up. thats like saying it is noble to give up 10% of your oxygen and always be tired. there is nothing good about it. well, i suspect if we were idiots that all played by that rule, we would all get married very very young and then divorce a bunch of times.
