Jeezuz... just when you think you've heard everything. The chances of that dog stepping just right to unlock the safety and then pull the trigger... crazy.

How bad do you have to be for your dog, the most loyal creature on God's green earth, to shoot you?

When guns are outlawed, only black labs will have guns.

Dog took the safety off too? Yeah that didn't happen. The headline should acknowledge his leg was amputated since that's the tragedy not the stupid dog.

Possible. Could happen with a Beretta just like the victim said.

    From another board.

Beretta with safety that moves left-right thru rear of trigger guard (behind the trigger):

    a. Set up for right handed shooter - pushing the safety button from left to right side of the receiver would activate the safety.

    b. Lay gun on it's left side. Safety button now protrudes up/out from trigger guard.

    c. Dog lands on trigger guard. One toenail deactivates pushes on the safety button (deactivating the safety) and a different (or the same) toenail enters the trigger guard and presses the trigger.

If safety button is reversed for a left-handed shooter, the opposite positioning of the gun could lead to the same result.
