I agree with you basically... I'm not saying we'd lose the NCG, but it would be a hard-fought battle. It might be just as well in terms of our future to be in the Rose or Fiesta and win. After all, no one remembers who was #2 in any year--so it won't make a difference if we're #2 or #32 if we don't win the NCG. I just would hate to hear all the pundits say "We knew that USC should have been there." So if we get there, WE MUST WIN!! It won't be enough just to get there.
Re: I agree with you basically... I think most people remember who lost the MNC game each year. Also the two teams playing in that game get a LOT of attention and exposure for about a month from early December toearly January. And another thing: It really does matter where you finish in the polls. Next year's preseason polls will be based to a great extent on where teams finish this year. Had LSU finished ahead of USC last year, the Tigers would likely be ranked #2 right now and the trojans would be #3.
If we don't go to sugar think about this: When was the last time LSU played on a New Years Bowl 2 years in a row, much less 3. I don't care if we go to sugar or not, would like too........ but its been a good year and the Rose wouldn't be so bad....
If we get screwed in the bowl stuff, it wont be the first time (remember the 9-1 team that went to NO bowl), but your recap of how far LSU has come Since Saban arrived was a needed reality check. These are the best of times and as long as we keep winning whoever lines up on the other side things will work out, and right now the next one is Georgia. Maybe we can really beat them this time!
Every bowl game, except arguably the BCS-designated "National Championship" game, is meaningless. They are all exhibitions. The SEC championship is the only postseason game which has meaning, i.e. that one team is the best team in the best conference in the country. Any postseason game slate that is not modeled after a true single elimination tournament is nothing more than a beauty contest. As always, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Excellence is demonstrated over the course of a season against conference opponents.
<<<<<wipes tear away from cheek>>> Great post SEN, that should be the new rally cry for all fans! As far as I'm concerened I'm ready to let the chips fall where they may, either way and no matter how it turns out I will stick by my saying........... "There is no better time then now and no better reason then this to want to be a LSU Tiger Fan and Truely Truely KNOW what it means to BLEED PURPLE & GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!"
