Ive taken both and I can tell you because of the age that I started both that I am a lot better golfer than a guitar player. If I had started both when I was a kid that might be different but there is no doubt that the clubs treat me better than the fret board.

I can't hit a fairway wood to save my life, so putting for eagle on par 5's is a very, very rare occurance for me. I generally start to feel good if I can get a 6 iron or better in my hands, very confident in the 8 iron down to the gap wedge. The driver is always the big question mark; it comes and goes for rounds at a time.

The only thing I can do worth a shit is putt. Can drive for decent distance but the where the ball lands is anybody's guess. Can play long to medium range irons OK but the short game sucks. Chipping? Faggedaboudit. I have probably chipped completely over the green more times than I have put the ball in makeable putt range. And bunkers. I should build a house there because I am going to be there for a long time.

Ironically enough, the record holder at Augusta isn't a professional...I believe I mentioned him here during the Masters's weekend.
Which isn't a bad way to approach 5 par holes. There are many I'd rather have a short iron in for three than trying to hit the green with a low iron/hybrid.

I think we've been trained to overthink and overplan bunker shots, especially greenside bunkers. So many recommendations out there....what I've found works for me is to just dig in my feet so they are below the ball, then take the exact same swing I would take if the ball were on grass, but swing a bit harder.

So to everyone in this thread, where's home and what's your home course? I'm in Morgan City, and I play the Atchafalaya in Patterson.

Charleston, and I can't answer that. I've played several around here more than a dozen times this year...a few in the 20+ range.

Crowfield, Pine Forest, Patriots Point, Stono Ferry, Coosaw Creek, Wescott Plantation...and then we're getting into courses that take more than a 20 minute drive.

Baton Rouge. I don't play often but when I do it's usually Webb Park or the LSU course. I like Santa Maria but it's a bit pricier than the others.
