Funny thing is the hole we were on backs up to a hospital and his ball was laying next to the high dollar car he probably just pegged. I wanted out of there fast although it would have been fun to see some Dr ripping his ass for fucking up his car. I don't think he actually hit anything but it was definitely possible.
I know if we never agree on anything else that @COTiger will agree with me that it is incumbent on those of us that play to grow the game. He may be a crotchety old cus that doesn't always appreciate my humor but I know he will agree with me on this. If we have a golf thread that grows to 500 plus pages it will still fall short. It is a great game and I hope I can do my part to keep it alive.
I like golf but I don't love it like y'all do. Still, anything that stimulates off season discussions on TF is great. Kudos to @COTiger for making this thread.
You're playing a game of pool. Your opponent hits the cue ball twice with his stick. He looks at you and says, "I can't do that?" Would you believe him, even for a second? I've never been on a course and found someone who didn't know a miss is a stroke. I have seen guys who have only golfed a few times double tap the ball with their putter. Why have they always paused and questioned if that was okay?
I've seen one hitting from the black's and clipping the red's. I've never seen blue hitting white or black hitting blue. However... Huntsville, AL, at a public course that used to be the old airport in that area. Much like water fountains you've seen in state parks (encased in stone/brick) that stand alone they had one between two holes with little between the two. Literally, you're watching the hole coming at you as you're waiting for the group in front of you to get out of range, right? I had only been playing a little while and hit that fountain. It was 25-30 yards off the box to the right...and 25-30 yards behind the box when it came to rest. My friends dad, teaching us the game, remarks, "that's a penalty, OB, a stroke. You're hitting two."
