Tiger's got a nice round going today. -3 thru 13. Not making birdie on the par 5 12th hurt his chances of making the cut which right now is projected at +1.

Father Time is a mean mother phucker. Combine that with the young kids not fearing them and the advances in equipment, well you see the results. And they are both fortunate that you won't see either of them standing on a street corner with a cup in their hand. I would like to see the equipment and the golf ball dialed back. Not necessary to hickory shafts but something has to be done. They have rendered most courses nothing more than target practice. The only recourse the course superintendents have is to let the rough grow and make the greens slicker than owl shit. I don't expect either to be done anytime soon.
I agree I’ve felt that forged blades with steel shafts and balata balls present the best test of golf.....or maybe that because that’s what I used when I played my best (only an 8). However that paid for a clean strike and penalized for a miss hit best. Today it’s hard to miss hit a ball unless you totally miss it.
