I understand supa's question. I have moments whereby I wonder what options we have. I don't believe diplomacy will get us where we want to go. I don't believe every Lebonese person deserves to die either....Iranian, Iraqi........I think we have to be patient.....very patient with countries like Saudi, Lebanon, Eqypt and resist the temptation to blanket each of these cultures terrorist. I believe we can work with Saudi, Jordan, Eqypt, Lebanon without the Hezbos. The one we cannot tolerate having a nuke is Iran. We cannot allow that and should have no patience with them. So patience with these countries to reform slowly. We're talking about 5 years since 9/11. This problem didn't start on 9/11 and it won't end in the next 5 years. But countries like Jordan are proof that things can change for the better. It's going to take time, money, patience and a will to never take military action off the table.

Patience also plays into the Iraqi issue. We have to have patience. You can't erase their history of bloodshed in 4 years just like you can't erase the stain of 1000 years of tyranny from the Russian people. It takes time.

Sounds to me like the "pastor" and founder is a scumbag, malcolm x want-to-be also. He sounds just like the kind of person I would want teaching my children history at LSU. Where in the hell do we find these P.O.S.? I mean, crap, don't we pay our people enough to attract good, wholesome, quality teachers?

I got to Newark Airport at 4:30 (EDT) this morning. My car driver was a dude named hakim Hakim or something like that. The lines were horrible and I got to the desk at 6:00 only to be greeted by an extremely hassled young Continental employee named Abdul something or other. He totally screwed me by checking my bag on the scheduled 1:45 pm flight when I clearly told him I wanted to get on an earlier flight. When I pointed it out he screamed (in heavy POS accent): "GO STANDBY! GO STANDBY! I got into the security line and when I reached the end I was told by a hindu m*****F***** wearing a Cannon Plush for a hat that I needed to go into the other security line. I complained to no avail because I was speaking English and he was speaking Vijay. I get through security and head for the gate where a plane is leaving for Houston at 7:55. I ask to be placed on the standby list and the sweet young thing informs me that, given the elevated state of security, I must travel on the same bag as my plane and since it's already been checked onto the 1:45 flight, that's the plane I have to be on. It is now 7 am. Fortunately, I had no liquids, gels or lotions on me so they all lived to terrorize innocent passengers another day. I finally got home at 7 pm, 16 and a half hours after I woke up in Jersey City.

Now Okie wants to complain because she can't pack toothpaste in her carry on? Please! Tell it to someone who gives a sh!t.

I worked for the government for 15 years before coming back to academia. Among the many reasons the change was great was . . . I don't have to fly so damn much. I hate the airport hassle.

I know a business traveler on a class-A expense account who only travels with his laptop bag on trips and Fed-Ex overnights his suitcase to his destination hotel, usually letting the concierge handle it all. Executive perks, you know. He just walks off the plane and looks for a limo driver holding his name on a card. Money can reduce the hassle-factor enormously. His CEO just takes the corporate jet, of course.

I may have to head down to Harvey, La. next week, and I am seriously considering driving. By the time you go through all the hassle of the airports and rental cars, it may be easier just to drive.

Of course, being able to bring an ice chest back with tasso, boudin, etc etc factors in too. :hihi:
