A group of about 25 of us are heading to the game. we purchased tickets through ole miss about 2 months ago and i have no idea where they are. we will be tailgating in the grove though early sat. morning so anyone that wants civilized interaction should stop by. who knows we may need a few extra fists.
Words of warning: The Mississippi Highway Patrol is like the Wu Tang ClanÑ"ain't nothing to f*ck with" and seeing how MHP officers must have at least a B.A., most graduated from Ole Miss. Seeing how Mississippi is a poor state and how the state makes money off of traffic tickets, beware! Mississippi cops certainly don't take no crap off of city slickers from New Orleans or Baton Rouge. So I suggest you guys drive the speed limit and if'n anyone goes 1 mile per hour over and you have an LSU sticker on your car, you will get pulled over. The MHP will be all over I-55 and Hwy 6 West. Expect roadblocks just west of Oxford, or south on Hwy 7 if you take that way. And, bring your check book/debit cards! Lastly, come to Oxford, spend lots of money!

Hey man, there's not even Civil Rights for Mississippians. The MHP is a more professional organization, but all these local law enforcement officers pull you over, set up roadblocks and basically do anything they want to you. I was just giving a friendly warning. Expect roadblocks by the Lafayette and Panola county sheriff departments the closer you all get to Oxford. They will give the breathalyzer to you as soon as you pull up to the cop in the middle of the road. They may ask to search your cars. In MS we have a no-tolerance policy on drugs and the only way that can be enforced is to violate peoples' fourth amendment, and the cops do a very good job of that. Hey man, just be glad you don't have to live here!
Several years ago in Jackson, the popular noodle band Widespread Panic played at the Miss. Coliseum. As motorists approached Hinds County from all directions they were corraled off into roadblock areas set up by sheriffs deputies and Jackson PD. Anyone and everyone was stopped and searched, well except for MS politicians. Even if you didn't plan on going to the concert, you were searched, pulled over, violated, etc. Later I heard a sheriffs deputy say they made so much money off of WSP fans that they wish they'd come play Jackson every 3 months. Anyway, y'all come to Oxford, spend your money!
