i agree. so far chavis' bend-don't-break defense has worked well. we give up a TON of yards, but can stop a team when we need to (ULL.) so what happens when we play a team that is better offensively? chavis has the record to back his defense up, but execution REALLY has to come into play for this type of defense to manifest. a blow play here or there could really cost the team a game -- especially if the offense struggles. i think chavis is a GREAT complement to gary crowton, but that is only if miles lets them reign free. he can't put any clamps on crowton's offense and expect for chavis' defense to work. because if we only score around 20 points a game, i don't think we'll beat teams like UGA or UF who are scoring 40 points with ease. of course LSU could right this ship and start scoring at will. we certainly have the players and talent to do so. if that happens, i think we're in fine shape this season.
Dude, I know how to use the search function. You were probably still learning how to type when I started using forums. You don't need to keep defending yourself. Only the guilty feel the need to keep defending themselves. It's ok, we all can accept who you really are. Just admit to yourself you have a man crush on MM and you'll be ok.
I believe by what you have expressed that you really can't predict what shoe goes on what foot. The problem is that you assume that the so called predictability of the plays was not caused by the quarterback play which I stated earlier. You run an offense that suits your personnell. JLee was throwing picks the OC did what any qualified coach would do. He simplified the offense. I am not sold on the idea of predictability as being as significant an issue as execution of the offense. It's easy to predict a team will run or throw based on down and distance. Does that mean you can stop them if they execute? UF runs the spread option, we know what type of plays they run. Tebow fakes on the read and gains 6-8 yards a carry. They execute their offense regardless if you know whats coming or not. You have to stop it. GT runs the ball. You know that it will be a dive or option pitch. You can predict all you want. If the offense is executed properly it is successful. LSU runs wide reciever screens. The defense knows they are coming. They have to try to stop them. I remember Early Doucet scoring several TDs because the play was executed properly and the defensed didn't. Jimbo ran them also with success. I am not sure you were old enough to watch the 07 version of this team when we had the "hidden Holliday play" or the double reverse pass from Doucet to Flynn vs. Bama. KW half back pass out of the counter toss(basically two trick plays in one) against the barners. So to say the offense as a whole is predictable is really not a well supported position to have. Yes, the offense has been pretty vanilla these first 3 games. But this is not the offense that you will see deeper into the season. To develop an opinion thru being short sighted is not really the way to have a valid opinion. So in the future I will consider your posts to be fluff and hopefully entertaining and nothing more. The people whom I've observed on this forum tend to be intelligent and offer something to stimulate my intellect or offer some humor. Your posts do neither.
Yall shuold just realize no amount of facts or opinions will change anyones mind here. Their are LSU fans that feel that LSU will be a very good team this year and there are those who feel we will suck. Watch the game and show me where JJ is doing bad plz. Yea, hes not perfect but uhhh he's 19 and started 5 games. IMO, JJ doesnt need to be great, JJ needs the team around him to be great so he can manage the game...
I think Lee threw so many picks last season because the balls he threw that were picked off, were the same ones he threw in high school that weren't. The defenses got better, dude has a great arm, but he was trying to force balls into small openings, and it bit him in the ass. You have to admire that about the guy, that he could not only take more heat from his fanbase than any quarterback i can remember since jamie howard, but he had the confidence to try and make those throws. Dude is a gunslinger, and sometimes its great, Auburn, Troy, sometimes its not Alabama, Georgia. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
True story; A friend went to work at the AIG Claims Office in NOLA in 1981. The place was a madhouse. On his 1st day he took a call from an attorney who said he was at the courthouse getting ready to pick a jury. The judge was screaming at him to settle the case and if we tried it and lost it would be real bad. He said he could get it done for $100K (a ton of money in 1981). He told the attorney to go ahead and settle it. When the manager inquired about the call my friend told him that he just gave authority to settle a bad case at trial for 100K. The Mgr. said "Holy Sh!t"! We only have $25,000 authority here. They got the Regional Manager in Dallas on a conference call and patiently explained the situation. There was a long pause then he said..."Rock and Roll". Everytime I hear it, I think of that story. I guess you had to be there.
