I read it and agree with both of you.
I've already said that I trust the coaches after last year.

I didn't trash Randall that I remember, all I ever said is that he was outplayed
by a freshman in the OSU game.
I didn't have the luxury to see the game the other night.

It was pretty stupid in hindsight for all of us to argue over the starting qb anyway since we aren't making any of the decisions.

I just hope that we have a good season thats all, I don't care who starts! :thumb:

That's a poor example. You can't compare Flynn(never played collegiately) to Randall who has played plenty. Just a poor example.

Another poor example. Green has proven himself. Green was the number one return man in the country last season. Another poor example.

I don't see anybody calling the coaches and telling them what they should and shouldn't do. We are letting the coaches make the decisions. We are simply offering our opinions, which is what this forum is for.

As I've stated before, I don't have it out for Randall. I just think Russell has showed me more. I'm not taking my observations from just a few games of Randall. I agree that at times he wasn't getting the protection he needed to complete passes, but I've seen this kind of incosistency from Randall time and time again. I've seen him get all the protection in the world and still he looks unsure and uncomfortable in the pocket. I have seen him play in many games and he just doesn't look comfortable as the qb. He just doesn't. How many games are we gonna have to witness before we say that he just doesn't have it? We've seen him play 8 so far. Is that not enough to draw an accurate assessment?

Nick just called me and I told him to go ahead and start Randell. He now has my permission and has assured me that my commission check is in the mail.

I haven't read through all the posts yet, but this one sums up how I feel on the situation. It doesn't have to be an either/or situation, and there is nothing wrong with having two QBs to count on.

    First off, SabanFan, two points...

Number one, never pay attention to Rex. He's from the Liar's political forum, the (Dark)Alley, and he's a total dolt. I mean it. You think you hate Crawfish's political opinions? This guy told an Afghanistan & Iraqi veteran who is a DEMOCRAT that he was a complete idiot and not aware of "what was really going on there". He also said that his superiors lied to him about the true intent of the war. He won't admit it, but find Hollywood Tiger from over there if you get the opportunity. This guy is OUT THERE.

Ask this guy about his thoughts on God, the war, or plagarism. He's a complete tool. I'm warning you now. Do not get into a discussion where you differ from him. Nothing personal, he just has a God complex...Well, perhaps you have to believe in one before you can have a complex about one...

    Anyway, on to point #2...

I'm guessing you weren't complaining much after Skyler Green ran the wrong route and Matt Mauck found him for the winning score against Georgia...

SabanFan, ad libbing goes on in each and every college game. On offense, and on defense. Look at the 2-point conversion against Oregon State. Doucet was totally confused, not sure about having to go into motion even though they were telling him to, and they snapped the ball with him basically in motion at where a tight end normally would be...

He peeled off, and ran into the end zone. The DB who would have had containment on Russell followed him, allowed Russell to dive in, and us to ultimately win the game. Had Doucet been on the other side of the field, Russell has to chunk one for the score...Which very well may not have happened.

So, two instances just off the top of my head where ad-libbing was successful.

Now, I'm not advocating that this become a part of the offense. Not at all. But, what I am saying is that you need to look past what Saban's saying here, to what he means...

He's doing his best to keep the hype on Russell to an appropriate level. Last year, when he was redshirting, he gushed about the "Frozen rope" he threw for a 53 yard pass to the tight end. He literally went on and on about it, and this was mid-season.

Now that Russell's out there, and he has a quarterback in Randall who will also be counted on at some point to lead the team if Russell is just not ready, or hurt, etc., he is trying to keep his feet on the ground.

He's talking up Randall lately, and talking down Russell, and there's a reason for that...

I know you like to joke about me not making any sense, but do you see the point I'm making here?

One thing is for sure. The last word in this discussion is a long way down the road.

The ability to make something out of nothing (or "ad-libbing") is a great trait to have in your QB. That ability is what makes Russell a special talent. Once the called play has broken down, I will love to see Russell turning it into positive yards. No problem with that at all. But...he will have to learn to run the play as called, or at least, get to the point where Saban will trust him to run the play as it is called before he is handed the reins. That day will come. But, for now, Saban is depending on the maturity and experience of Randall to get the game off on the right foot. To start Russell next week, before he is completely ready, would be a mistake and Saban knows it. That (IMHO) is why Randall is the starter.

So let me get this straight, In your Opinion Saban Might be starting a QB that he doesn't think Gives LSU the best chance to win? You do realize this is big time college football right and not checkers with your granny? :dis:

Heck, how are we supposed to see he just doesn't have it if his coaches cannot see that. Do you think Saban and Fisher are making the decisions based on the reasons you stated, not hurting Randalls feelings or they are in denial? I have to admit that randall didn't impress me at all in the opener and I didn't get to see him last weekend but I think we all need to trust that our coaches want to win even more than we do, they want to give the 100 or so players on the team the chance best chance to win also. So I really believe that they are going to do what thiney think is best based on those statements myself.
