I like Krakauer's other book better, Into Thin Air. Krakauer was actually present on Everest when they had the big disaster a few years ago.
Have you tried "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Dougkas Adams. It is the first of five novels in the inacuaratly named Hitchhiker's Trilogy. It may be the funniest book I have ever read, that can be said about all five of the novels in the series. It is short, fun, and over much to wuickly. I highky recomend it.
