lobo10's original post sums it up quite well. The rest of this crap is fuzzy gump math sprinkled with excuses.

No, it's a non-issue. Although we have received "champion" votes by a few pollsters over the years, none were by the "most recognized" poll of it's time... so we claim none.
Now, wrestling, that's a different story!!!!!!!!! Our nine consecutive NCAA championships is fairly impressive.

Any championship before 1936 is called a retroactive championship because, as you so rightly indicated, the AP did not start naming NCs until that year. As such I agree with you that any retroactive championship is not legitimate. The only two legitimate organizations that named NCs were the AP and UPI. I personally would view as legitimate any NC title awarded by either of these two organizations, regardless of whether or not other schools had better records. The fact that the AP and UPI may, at one time or another, awarded NCs based only on regular season games and did not take into account the bowl games was clearly a flaw in their system. But that is besides the point. The fact remains that if Alabama was awarded the NC by either of these two organizations, in my view the title is legitimate. If you want to put an asterik by those titles that did not take into account the bowl games, that's fine. But I would grant them 7 legitimate titles - the first being the 1961 title.

Something occurred to me... and I forgot about it, then lost the link here. *chuckle*

Anyway, it occurred to me that all of LSU's NC titles were in seasons with at least one loss.

So, the person some LSU fans are so adamant to agree with... would claim that LSU deserves only one title.

    Lest we not forget...

    We are *ALL* Princeton's b****.

The record books list them with 7 consensus national titles, but you can take two away, so actually they have 5. I lived in Bama and nothing more irritating than them saying 12 and its not true. 5 titles which is still good, but nowhere near 12!
