Boy, now I'm really confused... even starting to think I might be one of those "complete idiots" (btw, can one be an incomplete idiot?) .... so, given both the Harris interactive and BCS standings are completed in early December, Florida can't really claim the national championship because their game was after these "polls" closed. This is good news for Tressel, ain't it???
Using either Bama Standards (which would be BS) or Bama Math (BM), I proudly announce that Iowa now has five, count them...5... national championships, including 1958 when some odd pollster picked us, while everyone else picked LSU. I can't wait to get back to Iowa and go stare into our National Championship trophy case!!
Hawker you never replied to the question I asked you way back in your thread "a tale of two plays". haha no biggie man it wasn't a real serious question anyways just kinda rekindled some bittersweet memories from being down in Orlando on the first day of 2005. I bet you were there huh living down in Florida and bein such a big Iowa fan.
oops, musta missed that... let me run over there and make some ingenious comment... yes, I was there... actually spent the New Year's as guests of some good LSU fans up in their suite... met them in the bar... we partied until about 4 am... had to pour my wife into bed... good folks, good times...
You seem to miss the point. The FACT that some of the 12 were awarded retroactively is a complete joke. I've always wondered why you guys claim 12, but now that I know, all I can do is laugh. I've heard Bama fans decry the # of NC's ND claims, so get over it. And likewise, I've heard and read that LSU fans are just jealous since we only have 2. But by the standards that grant you 12, we have 5, but I have NEVER heard an LSU fan claim that we have 5 NC's. Proof positive that you people, FOR THE MOST PART, are an irrational lot. The fact that Bama generally lost the bowl games after they were awarded the NC doesn't matter. Yes, it does prove that the system was seriously skewed, but it is what it is. But you cannot overlook the fact that a lot of your NC's are highly questionable. If you have 2 or 3 fewer wins than another team from a strong conference, and you win the NC, that, my friend, is a joke. We will take our two, because there is no question about them. The BCSC isn't in question, because we won, and it is the standard for this day and age. In 1958, we were undefeated, and also won our bowl game, so there is no question about it, either.
Yea that was a good time. We were out downtown for the fireworks and I member it being late already but having to go way accross town to pick up one of our buddies at another hotel, we ended up partying with the people down the room from them. It was this group of like 20 family members from I think ireland. They were celebrating the holidays in south florida and those Europeans were wild! I member thinking "this is a first" with everyone from their grandparents(probably in their 70's or 80's) to their 12 year old (who was playing bar tender pouring up mixed drinks) to the hotel security guard in their room up celebrating till all hours of the night. We didn't get home till after the sun came up and I was pissed cause I ended up missing out on the LSU chanceler brunch that somebody had given us tickets for, and barely made kickoff itself haha.
Ok guys...I think we're getting a little carried away with Bashing other teams with NC's! I hate Alabama more than most people...but we can't start thinking this guys random rant is set in stone..yes some NC's they have won might not be picture perfect....but the NCAA recognizes their championships and bashing them for championships isn't something we should do. Until we get 26 of our own...which should be in approx 22 more years....to be exact! haha
Actually, the NCAA doesn't recognize football National Championships.
