If you're old enough to remember them, don't you miss Dan Hardesty and Bud Montet? :helmet: :geaux: :champs: :helmet:
Saban took a lot of the big guys off the pumt return team and replaced them with faster players. That allows the blockers to get into position faster thereby avoiding the block in the back.
Come on, Twisted...We've had a great return game since the Curley Hallman, Era... Remember Todd Kinchen, anyone? He was during the Hallman Era... Eddie "Special K" Kennison with the 100 yarder versus Moo U? That was in 1994, I think...He bridged the gap from the Curley Ball to the DiNardon't Era... He was doing the same thing in 1995... After he left in 1996, Kevin Faulk took over, and I can remember a coast to coaster he had on national TV against Notre Dame... Domanick Davis was a DiNardo recruit, and he was tearing it up as soon as he got the opportunity... I'll say that Skyler Green's emergence was due to a continuation of the superb return game during the Saban regime, but we've had outstanding return games going since the Hallman Era, when you stop and think about it...
We will always have a lot of skilled players such as return guys in this state. The main difference with Saban has been the quality of big guys.
That is exactly what Nick said many times early last fall and during the season. He had decided he had to use speed instead of lineman and slower linebackers all of the special teams. Speaking of special teams, I hope they get rid of the spread line on the punt formation that lead to the OU TD. I was extremely nervous every time we lined up with those super wide splits.
