By the end of the war, every Louisiana regiment in the Army of Northern Virginia were colloquially referred to as Louisana Tigers.
sorry, my catholicism took over on that one. which leads me to my favorite baptist joke (which i heard from a baptist preacher, i dated his daughter, that's whole 'nother thread) Q: Why don't baptists believe in pre-marital sex? A: Because it could lead to dancing. waka waka waka!
My dad always told me that if I was to ever take a Baptist fishing be sure to bring two- with two they wont drink your beer, BUT bring one and beer is gone by noon. I keed, I keed
I dont think south la. people were as eager to insult the North La. people after the hurricanes when people like my mom and dad had 22 people staying with them in the Shreveport area. It always pisses me off when i hear this kind of ignorant statement from someone who thinks their La' ness is better than someone from the northern part of the state. I was raised Catholic , I have been an LSU fan since the age of 3 , love all southern food, have roots back to Gov. of La. in the 1800's , and grew up in the Shreveport area. I have family living all over the state and am proud of La. Except that south la elected Gov. Dont think you can blame her on the north. I bet you dont hesitate a second to claim Huey Long legacy as La. yet he was from Winnfield. Thats in the northern part . Cause you are probably not familiar. What about the old La. Hayride that had the biggest names in Country music at the time. I could go on and on about things that North La. brings to the State. You should take the time to learn more about the northern part of the state and then be able to make an informed opinion. I doubt if you have ever taken the time. Then if you still felt that way nothing anyone ever said would change your mind. You will just insult people who have just as much right to be proud of their state as you.
Red55, Correct. All Louisiana units were known as "Tigers." However, there were only two brigades which were finally posted into one brigade. There is very little to read or find on the Tigers toward the end of the war. Most either failed to keep records and (most likely) many said "to hell with it" or tossed or lost them while concentrating on living and fighting and hoping to get back to God's Country, plow their patches (so to speak) and get on with life. Fewer returned than left. Buck
i've obviously offended you and for that, i am sorry. i actually like the different parts of :laflagwav and how they blend together. i was just saying that the northern part of the state seems foriegn to me because well, it is foriegn to me. i poorly chose my words in the giving of my own opinion. sorry.
Britney Spears is somewhere around the fifth metatarsal. Does that mean South La. has to claim her?
