Okay, a few minor points. There was a battalion of Louisiana Tigers who began the war. They were better fighters than they were soldiers. Like to get into the cups, find things that didn't below to them, fight, raise hell, etc. After Maj. Wheat was killed at Gaines Mill, what was left of the rowdy bastards were dispersed in other Louisiana units (sort of). There were two Louisiana Brigades and they became known as the Louisana Tigers - still admiring work that consisted of drinking, finding things that didn't belong to them, fighting, raising hell etc. They were a hell (literally) of a crew and, yes, the LSU Tigers did get their name from a Louisiana unit (two brigades actually) - but the unit were Tigers, every last man of them. Buck
Thier are dozens of reasons football is more popular in the south. none of which involves the confederacy.
Speaking of behaf of the ladies I've found that southern NCAA football has more women fans than in the north. One of my cousins who attended ND was suprised at how much I knew about our players, stats, and my basic understanding of the game. She said that girls up north go to the games for something to do, but are generally clueless. Southern women rule! Except lefire: girls- they suck.
You could have mentioned any other states and I wouldve been ok.:hihi: South Louisiana is completely different than anywhere in the country but that is what makes it so unique as well as LSU. Remember that Baptist drink on the back porch. north la. poster
