Ordered a tailgate box from Cane's. Not sure what else I'm doing yet. Definitely need to get some more beer in the house.
We're thinking about boudin and hot wings for snacking and muffalettas for dinner. Nobody wants to work real hard on food for the Super Bowl.
I have a gas char grill in the kitchen at the cafe. Usually I grill the boudin on the char grill and the chops on the flat top. PS that boudin poboy sounds real good...sounds like a sandwich special in the making.:thumb:. Mandas is good stuff, but the local butchers have the most pride.
We scored some guinea so it's guinea, wild duck and venison sausage gumbo on the menu. We'll start cooking (and sipping) at noon so it's simmering by gametime. Early risers on Monday can eat at halftime and get home to watch the end. I have a 7am flight on Monday but I plan to sleep off the hangover between Houston and Newark.
CHef friend doing Kobe Beef Sliders again with his Balsamic Caramelized Onions and Bacon pieces, his award winning Chipotle and Asian Wings, and Roasted Corn Dip. Trying to convince him to do his duck dumplings again. Others are bring Potato Salad, Rotel/Velvetta Cheese Dip, and my sister-in-law has Margaritas, Mojitos, and Daiquiris planned.
That rotel/velveta combo has turned me into an addict for the stuff. It's the closest thing to ruffled potato chips and sour cream based dips. both are platonic with beer and football. I'm not cooking anything at all for the super bowl, but I'll probably bring some cafe leftovers to my parents house...I made a huge batch of Shrimp and Grits soup today just for that occasion.
Good idea. I'll go buy some Velveeta. I have made it with Rotel but I like it better with hot Pace Pecante Sauce. Its perfect for pre game snacking
The Hot Rotel is awesome too. My wife gets made at me when I sneak a can in. Too hot for her but I can't get enough.
I'm going shopping for my party tonight, so I can get a jump on preparations tomorrow. I'll prepare my lasagna tomorrow and bake it a couple of hours before gametime. I have a blackened chicken pasta in cream sauce that will be relatively easy to make while the lasagna is baking. I'll make a pan of chess squares tomorrow, as well as a Caesar pasta salad. I took the easy route and bought a box of deli spirals that I just have to thaw--since my oven is going to be working overtime. My other appetizer will be marinated chicken (lemon juice, basil, olive oil) in pastry puffs. I'm also going to bring in pizza for the kiddos and in honor of it being the Saints, a big box of Popeye's. Oh, and fresh French bread from Kroger across the street is a must. We'll have margaritas, beer, and strawberry daiquiris, plus anything else the guests want to bring.
i brought back crawfish boudin to fix with my other things. and a king cake from gambinos. i think im set now.
