Let me preface this by saying I think Jamarcus should stay, and I hope he does. If JR were leaving tommorrow I would want Flynn to start. Perrilloux just has not shown very much in his limited snaps. Reports out of practice are that he is not ready. Come next fall my response could be totally different. It all depends on what Russell decides to do and how far along Flynn and Perrilloux progress,
What reports? When he first got here (a year and a half ago), I know the reports were that he wasn't ready, but I haven't heard anything about that since. In the Spring Game he performed every bit as well as Flynn, even better at times just not quite as consistent. The competition between Flynn & Perrilloux last Spring was very tight before RP had ever taken a collegiate snap. What I've heard is that Perrilloux is ready and has looked very good in practice. Perrilloux's snaps this season have come with 3rd & 4th string RB's & WR's - can't expect too much out of him. Many of his passes have been dropped as well.
Well, you and I have heard very different reports. I have heard Perrilloux airmails passes on long balls and throws short on the medium and short range stuff. Miles has said more than once that he has a ways to go. I guess the question is that ways a shorter ways than Flynn. I'm not at all trying to knock the guy. He can still end up being a great quaterback, but from what I have seen and heard he is not ready to be one today. The 3rd and 4th string receivers don't make him throw skip passes. I have seen that more frequently than drops, but like I said before where he appears to be now may not be telling of where he will be next fall. Either way I can't help but feel we are in good shape next year.
I have seem him throw the ball into the dirt several times. He did it twice against one of the cream puffs. I think it was Tulane.
Anyone who got to see Perrilloux run during the Fresno State game would not be surprised by these numbers. I thought Perrilloux was a bit faster (4.5 flat maybe), but definitely looks a lot more like 4.65 on the run he made.
I think this is a fair assessment. I guess JR has to make up his mind as to whether he can improve anymore than he has over these 3 years. His decision making is still extremely questionable. He still stares down his #1 target way too often. He trusts the strength of his arm to get the job done, causing him to make throws into the teeth of the defense. Game and clock management is still an issue for him. Can he get any better is the question? If scouts base his NFL status on the 3 SEC road games, he won't rate any higher than 3rd round. If they go goo-goo ga-ga over his play against the cupcake defenses this season, he may sneak in late first round. I think where NFL scouts rank him will make his decision for him. He may easily be looked upon as another potential Aaron Brooks in the making. Talent-wise I think Rohan had the same exact attributes as JR. Very similiar arm, same brute strength and running ability, etc. And Rohan can't seem to stick with an NFL team.
Yea, Rohan is on an Areana League team now. If he doesnt give up I can see him getting a backup role somewhere one day. Wishful thinking on my part.
But you do see how Rohan has relatively the same amount of talent that JR does, correct? Just shows you that talent alone doesn't cut it in the NFL.
