Agreed. Let's worry about next year, next year. And hopefully JR does stay cuz we have a good schedule next year. But this year aint over yet. I think we have a good chance at getting an at-large BCS bid. Hopefully USC is RB.

If JR leaves, Flynn will start. No questions about it, why start RP when he can still learn from Flynn who is PROVEN to be a good QB. Also, JR may stay and even if he doesn't RP will probubly not start and he won't leave because he will have to sit a year out if he transfers. People over here at LSU just need to stop making a big deal about the QB situation. Sit back and enjoy what we have right now, a QB who is throwing 69% with 18 TD's and a 168% QB average. Why waste people's time talking about something as dumb as HAVING to start RP?? When he has come in this year, the passes that he has thrown have been short, and thats because he is young. Remember when JR played with Marcus Randall?? He was a great recruit, but he wasn't ready to play. He continously under threw his passes and had too much confidence in his arm and made bad decisions. However, he learned and has become a great QB. Thats what RP needs to do, sit back, watch and learn. Flynn will start next year (if JR goes to the pros) and after next year RP will STILL have 2 years of eligibility. Anybody remember/still watch Brent Schaeffer??? he played his Freshmen and didn't make the right decisions because he wasn't ready to play, and still is struggling with Ole Miss. Do we honestly want that over here?? if people over here are so critical with JR's play right now, i'd honestly hate to see what happened if RP turned into a Schaeffer. Just my opinion on this subject.

IF JR leaves as I expect, Flynn would most likely start due to experience, but I think the competition leading up to the season would be very close. I think Perrilloux may very well overtake the starting spot 3 or so games into the season though.

If JR goes to the NFL... I think Flynn should be the starter opening day next year. :helmet:

If JR stays - he will be top on the Heismann list and LSU will probably be rank top 3 in the preseason - maybe even 1 cuzz of our schedule and all the key players returning. If he leaves, i agreed w/ CParso that RP will take over w/in 3 or 4 games. Btw, what's RP 40 time? My buddy tells me RP is like Vince Young, but faster and bigger arm??? I don't really think so...but don't know enough about RP (or seen enough) to argue... Anyway, right now, i'm just enjoying LSU football. Compare to the 90s...these last few years have been pretty damn good.

Vince Young was listed at 6' 5", 235 lbs., and at the pro combine, he ran 4.7 second 40 yd. dash. After the Rose Bowl, he did not return to UT, but went to work with Jerry Rhome, a QB coach. Some kids work with a strength and conditioning coach to improve their strength and 40 yd. dash time for the combine, but Vince did not. Some think if he had, he could have run 4.6 easily. I never thought he was shifty, but he could sure set sail, and once he started gliding along, it was katy bar the door. His arm is strong, but not as strong as JaMarcus Russell's, IMO (of course I don't know who's are is, anywhere).

I don't know that much about Perrilloux, unfortunately. I've only seen him in for a few series this season. Media guide has him listed at 6' 2" and 222 lbs. I could see Ryan as shiftier than VY, and quicker the first few yards. I doubt that his top "sailing speed" is faster than VY, who was really pretty awesome at it.

And on what basis do you make this statement? Do you know something the coaches don't know? RP has barely had half a dozen snaps. MF has had much more experience and success. Based on that, I believe RP will have a very difficult time winning the lead away from Flynn. However, the coaches will not be able to make that decision until after spring practice.

My guess is that JR stays at LSU for another year. I think he would benefit from it. He has not shown the polish to go in the first 2 rounds after this season, IMO, but I'm not a pro scout. If he stays, he has the chance to go in the top 2 rounds if he shows more polish in his Sr. season, which is certainly possible.

well number one, matt flynn has proven a lot more than rp has. you can say he's done poorly this year but his shoulder was hurt.

number two, matt flynn will be a senior.

number three you didn't even know how many years of eligibility RP would have left.

matt flynn is a more mobile qb, which miles has stated. he blew out miami signalling their demise. and oh yeah, he'll be a senior. he's earned his spot and it's absolutely foolish to call for rp before the season has even started.

JR is easily top 3 round material right now. Polish doesn't matter to scouts - potential does. I think JaMarcus is a early second rounder right now.

Flynn has faster straight line speed than Perrilloux (fast 40 time). Perrilloux is a better athlete, probably quicker with his first step & much shiftier. It's really amazing when you think about what VY was able to do because he honestly wasn't that fast - he just couldn't be caught for some reason. Supposedly this is the type of runner that RP is...
