Radar looked like it's left Baton Rouge and headed west with the outer edges already almost to Houston. Lafayette would be still getting rain but if BR is any indication it should stop soon. Water will continue to rise from all the rivers and bayous in the area so I hope it doesn't get worse here or there. If there is a curfew wouldn't the corner bar be closed by now. I hope you stocked up on your favorite booze
Getting reports that Goodbee/Covington area starting to flood from runoff now. Buddy's neighborhood has water in streets/yard and still rising.
turns out bengalbs phone issue wasnt without merit. ATT is down in south LA. He uses cricket and they piggyback off ATT and his phone was giving him a network error prior to the entire thing going down. I suppose its from too much traffic. Also got a lot of people trapped on i-12 going on 24 hrs now with kids, old folks and women with no bathroom, no water, no food. good thing the weather isnt anywhere near as hot as its been. stay safe people. watch the olympics or something. the roads suck.
Saw the posting on I10/12 interchange that 12 was close at 55. Didn't know they had people trapped. No EMS out there to rescue? Edit, guessing no one can turnaround thanks to those lifesaving cable fences they put up.
They were all told by authorities to get comfortable and they were sleeping in their cars tonight. It was closed both ways so no where to turn around to between Airline and St. Tammany Parish.
My serive with At&t went out this morning. Turn on Wifi calling if you have that option on your phone.
My parents live in Prairieville. They said the levy broke over there about an hour ago. They left to go to my aunts. Haven't heard from them since. My aunt lives close to Blue Bayou water park back on highland. Is that area dry??
Thing is, with those temps, already being wet for whatever reason can onset hypothermia which, sucks even worse. I have seen the images and reports out of the area and all I can say is holy shit, that is biblical flooding. Caskets surfacing in graveyards and everything. I think about those who's entire living is their home. Those with cattle and ranches, those that work the land. All that and their homes makes you take pause to the realities for those you care the most. Here I sit sipping water because there is not enough to water your plants but watching landslides from the water is surreal. Pipelines everywhere serving profit but not 1 that could relieve those in danger to help those who need it. Dunno, maybe that sounds too simple but in all, I do feel for those who are miserable right now suffering through an event that only allows for suffering. You all remain in our thoughts in hopes that this is merely a setback and not a beginning to a miserable recovery. To those that face such, my door is open and the fridge is full. What's mine is yours.
