I've been trying to make a phone call for the last 10 minutes and a box keeps popping up saying "Emergency Calls Only" and it doesn't try to connect to the number I am calling. I'm on Cricket Wireless. Anybody else have this problem?
if restarting it doesnt work check your sim card. if its half assed seated in there it will show no service and all you have is the emergency calls only nonsense.
They have a fireman across the street, and I know he will know when/if they need to get out. He told my dad that the power would be cut to the street if flooding is imminent, as a way of knowing to get out ASAP. Their landline phone went out 10 minutes ago. They have family in Walker and in Baton Rouge, and of course, cannot get to any of them. They have absolutely no route out, north, south, east, or west. My uncle who is a state trooper lives in Walker, but I think he was getting flooded last night. I went to high school in Albany, and everyone I know there is flooded right now. The whole town has gone under water from the Natalbany River. The videos from there on Facebook are shocking. My best friend's mother had to be rescued from their house by truck, was taken to her younger daughter's house, then had to be evacuated by boat from that house as it flooded. They are now on their way to my friend's house south of I12, which doesn't have water...yet...
This is a picture some family took this morning right before being rescued from their roof along with their 5 dogs. They live on about 25 acres right on the Amite around Watson. I was there this summer with the family for a brief visit. This is a very large two story house. From what they predict their entire house should be under water by the time the river crests. Packing my things now to go down next week and try to help out....or whenever I am able to access them safely. This should be much worse than the flood of '83 from what I am reading and hearing. Sad....
Prayers for all. I just got back in my house after the flood in Covington this March. No matter how well covered you are with insurance, nothing can help with the feeling of helplessness you get when your home is flooded.
Lafayette has gotten smashed.....places that don't flood are flooding, many friends and family have 3-4 feet in their homes and much worse. Expecting another 6-8 inches tonight, fortunately I'm high and dry, curfew at 6 tonight but I'm thinking of sneaking out to corner bar, just cuz.
