Been rebuilding a house that flooded in March. Was about 1 week from being done. Went in there this afternoon with the owner. Water barely touching the road. Within 20 minutes, the water was over the hood of my truck. Never driven through water like that in my life. Scary as shit. She was right behind me in her mini SUV. Amazing that both vehicles kept running. Getting out of there, when I saw my headlights go under and I knew that it was going to get deeper, I'll be honest, I was scared shitless.

I'll take my bateau in in the morning and assess damage. I have never seen water come up that fast in my entire life.

Monday morning, I'll have my transmission fluid and my rear end fluid changed.

I'm very concerned about my parents in Watson right now. They don't have high water yet, but they are just not all that far away from the Amite. They are feeling rather trapped; they don't even have a way to get to family in Baton Rouge.

the Amite is the problem. it's already at record levels with no end of rain in sight. areas that never flooded are going to flood a friend of mine just moved there and built his foundation way up and his house was already getting water yesterday.
some places are ok but there's no way to get out. it's a trapped feeling.

Driving in high water scares the hell out of me too. That is a shame to hear about the house flooding again. Feel sorry for them. Has to be very disheartening. Even for you, building/remodeling but moreso as the owners.

    Very comforting, I'm sure.

Stacey, 911 can get a boat to them if they get in trouble. That's what they're doing in Lafayette. Any person in trouble will be brought to a staging area. Family/friends take it from there.
