Flooding in Bogalusa

    yep best wishes from a few miles west of you. if it had rained all day yesterday as predicted shit woulda been bad everywhere. or worse i should say.

    Sorry to hear about that Kyle. Hard to believe how Central Louisiana missed it and there's 21 inches to the north and major flooding to the East. We only got 3 inches not counting a couple of hard down pours today.

    Where I live there's very little chance water would get in my house but I am still in a flood zone. Crazy I know. I forgot what I need to do to have that changes. The elevation of my house is crazy. From a dirt road in front you can see my porch but only see my neighbors' roofs to the east and west of me.

    About to put a metal roof cause I worry about strong winds/hurricanes allowing water in my home. I'm not sure I could handle losing everything and having to start over.

    You can get a LOMA (letter of map amendment) but if your house is already built at the lower elevation, no way to do it unless you jack up the house on piers. Basically, a surveyor has to come down and certify that every square foot of your entire property has an elevation higher than the BFE. It makes it tough.
